Sariska National Park

Location

In the year 1955, this park was declared as a sanctuary. Later, it was under Project Tiger in the year 1979. Finally, it was declared as a National Park in the year 1979. Sariska National Park houses a few tigers along with great flora and fauna.

Ranthambhore National Park

Location

Standing out remarkably in an extensive denuded tract, the Ranthambhore National Park reflects a unique juxtaposition of historical and natural richness. It proffers a winding terrain with slopes, hills, steep ridges, hillocks, pebbly ravines and flat valleys. The park spreads over a vast expansion of 392 sq km and it happens to be the finest example for conservation of Tigers.

It is not just the tigers that make the park so special. The park is an exceptional place where history and the mother nature intertwined together to present a stunning spectacle. One cannot witness the astonishing scenery of spotting the wildlife under the roof of a superb architectural splendor of yesteryears. The remnant of the old fort inside the park has been reclaimed by the inhabitants of the park.

Borivali National Park (Sanjay Gandhi National Park)

Location

Borivali National Park (Sanjay Gandhi National Park): Presently renowned as Sanjay Gandhi National Park, Borivali National Park is a unique wildlife park situated within the city limits of Mumbai. The Park was known as Krishnagiri Park during pre-independence period and later as Borivali National Park. In 1990 the park is renamed as Sanjay Gandhi National park. It has the reputation of being the most visited National Park and also being the World’s largest park within the city limits.

Mukerti National Park and Lake

Location

Mukerti National Park is situated in the southern region of the Nilgiri and is spread across the whole eastern region too. The park is an abode for a large number of animals and they can breed freely and reside in the protected environment, which is deployed for wild life cultivation. Several measures have been taken by the government to protect this wild life so as to protect the species which are on the verge of extinction.

Mukerti lake is jointly established along with the park and birds and ducks which love to live in water are provided with an eco friendly environment so that they can live in a natural environment. Boating is encouraged in the lake and it's a wonderful time going boating in the lake beside the park.

Bannerghatta National Park

Location

The Bannerghatta National Park is situated 22 km away from the city. A variety of fauna in the picturesque surroundings of the park can be seen. It is a reserve of lions, Indian tigers and many other mammals. Crocodiles, picnic corner, pets corner and serpentarium with lion’s safari are among the many attractions in the park. The small zoo in the park displays many zoological items.

The country’s first butterfly park was set up in the Bannerghatta National Park on 25th of November 2006. The butterfly park is spread over 7.5 acres of land and constitutes a butterfly conservatory, museum and an audio-visual room. The conservatory is made of polycarbonate roof. The living environment has been so designed that it supports 20 species of butterflies.

Bandipur National Park

Location

This is one of the best wildlife reserves in India. The park is located in a large forest located to the south of the river Kabini and is in the list of World Wide Fund's Project Tiger areas. The climate of the place supports a wide variety of flora and fauna.

The vegetation to the east of the park comprises stunted trees while the northern edges have deciduous type of vegetation. This wide diversity has encouraged the growth of different species of animals.

Periyar National Park

Location

The Periyar National park is the main attraction of Thekkady. This famous wildlife sanctuary is located in the banks of artificial Periyar lake. Periyar National park is fully covered by dense forests and green grass lands. Thus, this has become the perfect locations for wildlife such as the great Indian tigers, elephants, lion tailed macaques, gaurs, deer, sambars.

Thekkady offers cruise rides on lake and elephant rides as well. Trekking programs are conducted for the ancient Mangala Devi temple located in the midst of a thick forest.

Rajamalai National Park (Eravikulam National Park)

Location

The Eravikulam National Park was created to preserve the Nilgiri Tahr, a rare species of the wild goats found only in the south of the Himalayas.

This park is abundantly rich with shola forests and grasses, and is yet fairly new as it was after construction in 1978. The park is sited in the Idukki district. It is located on the borders of Kerala and Tamilnadu.
