Dayara Bugyal

Location

Bugyal in the local language means ?high altitude meadow?. Situated at an elevation of about 10,000 feet above seal-level this vast meadow is second to none in natural beauty. During winter, it provides excellent ski slopes over an area of 28 sq. kms. The panoramic view of the Himalayas from here is breathetaking. There is a small lake also in the area, and to camp by its side would be memorable event.

Nandan-Van Tapovan

Location

These two spots are situated opposite the Gangotri glacier further up from Gaumukh, at a distance of 6 kms. from where visitors can have a superb view of the majestic shivling peak. There are ideal spots for camping and also provides base camps for Bhagirathi, Shivling, Meru, Kedardom, Kharchakund, Satopant, Kalindi Khal and many other snow peaks.

Khatling glacier

Location

The trek for Khatling glacier starts from Ghuttu, a place about 62 kms. from Tehri. There is a P.W.D. Inspection house and a Tourist Rest House at ghuttu. The other important places enroute are Reeh, Gangi, Kalyani & Bhomakgufa. At Reeh & Gangi Tourist Rest Houses are available. Gangi is the last village beyond which no facilities of any kind are available and one has to make its own arrangements. The sight of the khatling glacier is most spectacular and alluring. From here Masartal is 7 kms. The route further goes up to basukital and from there to Kedarnath.

Nagtibba

Experience trekking - 10000 feet above sea level - at Nag Tibba, the highest peak in Mussoorie, located roughly 55 kms from the town. The location is surrounded by thickset forests. The first 34 kms of the distance can be covered by transport – the trek begins here as the rest of the distance can be covered by foot. For those who are interested in trekking and adventure, Nagtibba offers them all the opportunities. The area is full of dense forests and natural beauty. One can have a panoramic view of the Himalayas.

Panar Bugiyal

Location

Bugiyal stands for meadow and as the name denotes Panar Bugyal is a lush meadow that one come cross on their trip to Rudranath. Panar offers the awe-inspiring vistas of a flowery region where implausible and post card beauties enthrall the beholder. The entire landscape is speckled with wild flowers and it looks just like a flowery carpet of marvelous flower buds. Apart from this, your trek to Panar would fetch you two lovely temples and the pictorial settings of a pretty waterfall.

Pitradhar

Location

Pitra Dhar is the highest point in the entire trekking trail of Rudranath. It fetches the trekker to an altitude of 4000 meters from where the valley below looks like a huge sphere. As the trek progresses through the lush meadows, the surroundings began to show gradual changes, which reveals the rusty and most risky face of Rudranath trek. The trail through the bumpy terrain with lofty precipices, deep ridges and crags are certainly some of the arduous treks in the entire Gharwals. Above all the trekking route is marked with asymmetrical pebbles, which demands much vigor and courage.

Bhalu Dam

Location

Bhalu Dam: Kathgodam Railway station, about 80 km away from Ranikhet, is the nearest railhead. Pre-paid taxi services are available from Kathgodam to Ranikhet, which costs about Rs 1500. Regular train services are available from Kathgodam to Delhi and also to other cities in India.

Chandak

Location

Situated 7 Kms away by bus through an uphill climb Chandak constitutes the northern of Soar Valley. The famous temple of Mostamanu is 2 Km from Chandak. Chandak offers a fascinating view of the Himalayan ranges and the sprawling Soar Valley. It is a potential hang gliding resort and the magnesite mining factory is located too here.

Chaukhamba Viewpoint

Location

Situated with in the precincts of the town is the magnificent Chaukhamba Viewpoint, which is quite renowned for its mesmerizing sceneries. This vantage point unwinds the magical charm of the intimidating Himalayan peaks. Gawking through the never ending cliffs would definitely provide new energy and vigor to the picnicker.
