Zoluti Hriatrengna Lung

Location

Zoluti Hriatrengna Lung is a memorial stone erected on 5th January 1994 by the Kristian Thalai Pawl (Christian Youth Fellowship), Serchhip Vengchung Branch. The stone was erected in memory of Zoluti, the daughter of Dr. Winchester, who was the manager in the Assam Tea Garden. Mary Winchester was named as Zoluti by the local Mizo people. Zoluti was held captive by the Mizo Chief Bengkhuaia of Kawlri on 23rd January 1871.

Sikpui Lung

Location

Sikpui Lung is a stone platform that was constructed for the use of Huangpu, Zai Hruaitu, who was a proponent of singing and dancing during Sikpui festivities. This Sikpui festivity was celebrated by the Hmar community, which preceded the Lushei group during the westward movement.

Kakching

Location

Kakching is one of main agricultural towns in the region and is the renowned trading centre for vegetables, fishes and rice. Tourists visit several temples in the region, including the Shri Krishnachandra Mandir, Narasingha Mandir and Viswanath Mandir. An area of around 100 acres is occupied by the Kakching Airfield, called as the Pallet Airfield, during World War II.

Khongjom

Location

Khongjom is popularly known as the town where the last war was fought between the local people and the British soldiers for the independence of Manipur. There is a War Memorial Hall located in the small hilly area where people gather every year on 23rd April, on the Khongjom Day.

Nampong

Location

Nampong is considered as the threshold of the Indo-Myanmar border and it is the same region through which the historic Stilwell Road also known by the name of Ledo road passes. Just 12 km away from the region of Nampong is the Indo-Burma border from where the lake of No Return is also visible to the travellers.

It is because of the difficult terrains present in the Indo-Burma Patkai mountain ranges, Nampong is also referred to as Hell-Pass. During the World War second’s crossing these routes were very risky because of which the name Hell-Pass prevailed.

Stilwell Road

Location

The historic road of Stilwell is located in the town of Jairampur in the Changlang District. This road was constructed by the Americans during the Second World War from Ledo in Assam, which is one of the rail heads of the Bengal-Assam railway line.

This road passes from the upper Brahmaputra to Burma Road connecting to Kunming. It winds up the passes of 9000 ft Patkai Range and emerges at Shindbwiyang and then Myitkyina. Then it crosses the broad bowl of the Upper Chindwin, which forms the threads of the Hukawng and Mogaung valleys and goes down to Bhamo and to the Burma Road connecting Kunming.

Hanging Bridge

Location

Hanging Bridge is situated on the Siang River and is one of the famous attractions of the destination. This 70 m long bridge is made of bamboo and cane and connects the destination with other hill tribes. Hanging bridge on the Siang river is another thing to see at Along. This bridge is local made of cane and bamboo. The bridge is around 60 to 70 m long connecting to the others hill tribes, fishing are the sports for these tribe.

Apple Orchards

Location

Apple Orchards, famous for its huge trees laden with apple fruits, is one of the major attractions for tourists visiting Bomdila and that too especially during winters. The orchards are immensely filled with fruits during winters, as nature is at its best during this time in the region.

Ziro Puto

Location

Ziro Puto is among the popular hills, which offers a view of the valley where Ziro is located. It is the place where cantonment of Indian Army was situated and the first administrative centre was set up at Ziro Puto after India's independence.

Dry Fish Market

Location

The Dry Fish Market is located in Jagiroad in the Marigaon District. This market is the largest dry fish market in Asia. Visitors can find varied sea and freshwater fish that are brought from West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.

The fish of this region are commercially sold in the states of Mizoram, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Meghalaya and Manipur. Some of the dry fish are exported to Singapore, Malaysia and other Southeast Asian countries.
