Hanseswari temple

Location

Hangseswari Temple is located in Bansberia in Hooghly district. This 21 m high 19th century temple has 13 towers. The top of each tower is shaped as a lotus flower. The main deity is made up of blue-neem wood. The five storey idol of Ira, Pingala, Bajraksha, Sushumna and Chitrini follows the structure of a human body.

It is located near the Tribeni Railway Station which is on the Howrah-Katwal mainline. From the railway station, tourists can take auto rickshaws and cycle rickshaws to reach the temple.

Basudev temple

Location

The Basudev temple, also known as Banshberia temple, was built in 1679 by Raja Rameshwar Dutta. The walls of the temple are covered with terracotta carvings depicting scenes from the Hindu epics. Inside the temple, an idol of Basudev or Vishnu is worshipped in the central chamber, and Shivalingas in the surrounding ones.

Bollakali Temple

Location

About 20 Km from Balurghat on the Balurghat- Malda Highway is the location of the village BOLLA. A temple of the `Bolla Ma Kali` in here is highly revered by the local. The story behind the temple goes like this - A landlord could not pay the due tax to British Govt. and got arrested. Kali came to his rescue and with her blessings the landlord was released the very next day. The landlord built this temple as a token of gratitute.
