Agni kunda

Location

Agni means fire. The water in this spring is at 80 degrees Celsius. It is also rich in many minerals of sodium, potassium, calcium, silicates, chlorides, bicarbonates and sulphates which are said to have medicinal properties. It might also contain traces of radioactive elements.

Kalyaneswari Temple

Location

The temple of the Lady of Fulfilment, about 20 km from Asansol has been a place of pilgrimage, particularly for barren women, for about five centuries. It is near Maithon. Normally one makes it a part of a visit to Maithon Dam.

The Kalyaneshwari Temple is popular as the temple of the Lady of Fulfilment. This temple, which is located some 20 km from the Asansol City is presided over by Maa Kalyaneshwari, who is present in the form of Goddess Kali or Shakti.

Nyay Mandir

Location

Literally means temple of justice, Nyay Mandir, is a unique piece of Byzantine architecture by the Madras architect Robert Fellowes Chisholm in the year 1896. Located at a distance of 4kms from the city besides the sursagar lake, it houses the District Court of Baroda. The central hall of the building is beautified with mosaic tiles and there is a statue of Maharani Chimnabai, the first consort of the Gaekwar Maharaja Sayaji Rao III.

Kirti Mandir

Location

Literally means temple of fame, Kirti Mandir is one of the major attraction of the city, located at the north of Prince Fatehsinhrao Gaekwad’s statue near the Viswamitri bridge. This e-shaped building was constructed in 1936 by Sir Sayajirao Gaikwad in a vast area of 8acres with the cluster of Shiva temples to perpetuate the glorious memory of his beloved ancestors. Designed by the famous French architect Dea haun, this unique structure was built at an expenditure of around one lakh at that period.

EME Temple

Location

Located at the premises of Electrical Mechanical Engineering (EME), Dakshinamurthy Temple popularly known as EME temple is one of the famous religious center of the city. The temple dedicated to Lord Dakshinamurthy, an incarnation of Lord Shiva as Jagadguru, is situated in betwen five Banyan trees that are known as Panchvati. The idol of the lord faces south.

Iranshah Atash Behram

Location

A place of worship for the Parsis, the fire temple in Udvada is named 'Iranshah" and considered to be one of the most holy places of worship for the Parsi community and holds the holy fire. When the Parsis came to Udvada, King Jadi Rana allowed them to consecrate the Iranashah (in 1742). The newly married make it a point to visit the Iranshah to seek blessings. On auspicious occasions people of the Parsi community also come to Iranshah to pray.

Shri Agam Mandir

Location

Established by the inspiration of the Jain saint Acharya Shri Anandsagarsuriji Maharaj Saheb, Shri Agam Mandir is supposed to be the biggest among the 6-7 Agam temples in India. The temple is dedicated to Lord Mahavir Bhagwan. Apart from the main deity, idols of Shri Adeshwar B hagwan and Shri Parshwanath Bhagwan can be seen. The temple walls are adorned with Jain inscriptions on copper sheets called Dharm Agams.

Pandava Caves

Location

Pandava Caves, also known as Aravalem caves, are renowned by the mythical stories of Pandavas, the great warriors of the epic Mahabharatha. The caves are located in an ambiance of wilderness at a place Valpoi in the district of North Goa, a border district of Goa with Gujarat. It is believed that Pandavas put up here for some time during their wilderness in the forest and they used these caves to offer their prayers to Lord Shiva. An impressive Shivling is placed inside the caves. These are beautiful caves leading light to the epic period.
