The temple of the Lady of Fulfilment, about 20 km from Asansol has been a place of pilgrimage, particularly for barren women, for about five centuries. It is near Maithon. Normally one makes it a part of a visit to Maithon Dam.
The Kalyaneshwari Temple is popular as the temple of the Lady of Fulfilment. This temple, which is located some 20 km from the Asansol City is presided over by Maa Kalyaneshwari, who is present in the form of Goddess Kali or Shakti.
Infertile women specifically, visit this temple offering their prayers. This ancient temple is approximately 500 years old, which was built by Panchakot King, when the older structure was at the brink of destruction. The initial structure was built by Harigupta in the 3rd Century AD, just as he established his kingdom’s capital at nearby Salanpu.
