The National Library of India at Kolkata is the largest library in India and India's library of public record.

It is under the Department of Culture, Ministry of Tourism & Culture, Government of India. The library is designated to collect, disseminate and preserve the printed material produced in India. The library is situated on the scenic 30 acre (120,000 m²) Belvedere Estate, in Kolkata, formerly Calcutta City. The Library is the largest in India, with a collection in excess of 2.2 million books. Before independence, it was the official residence of Lt. Governor of Bengal.

This is one of the foremost medical institutions in the country. JIPMER, which is short form for the Jawaharlal Institute of Post-graduate Medical Education and Research, was established 20 years ago and is one of the most prestigious institutions of its kind in the country.

A famous centre of learning in the past, Ujjain continues to uphold that tradition. The establishment of the Vikram University in 1957 was an important landmark. Situated on the Dewas Road, this university plays a significant role in the literary and cultural activities of the city.

Nagaland Science Centre was established with the aim to spread importance of science in the region. The centre has various galleries such as the Fun Science, Children's Corner and Our Senses.

The Kheunpheling Carpet Centre is a carpet-weaving centre, situated in the Tibetan Refugee Settlement Camp of Ravangla Town. This centre is known for producing traditionally designed and woven woollen carpets. This centre was setup by the government to boost traditional Sikkimese handicraft and handloom work. People come here to learn the art of wood carving and weaving, as well as for buying some local souvenirs.

Maharaja Bir Bikram College, or MBB College, is named after the former king of Tripura, Maharaja Bir Bikram Manikya Bahadur. A degree college in the state of Tripura, this institution imparts general education in various streams including science, commerce and humanities. Operational since 1947, this college was originally started to meet the needs of students who had migrated to Tripura from East Pakistan.

The Science Park at the North Bengal Science Centre (NBSC) introduces the viewer to the basic rules of science through innovative methods and is a delightful experience especially for youngsters.

Dr. Graham's Home was founded in 1900 by Dr. John Anderson Graham. Located on the lower slopes of Deolo Hill, this educational institution is sprawling over an area of 500 acres. In addition, the institution also houses farmhouse, bakery, dairy, poultry, hospital and clothing department.

A festival called May Fair is organised every year at this Graham's Home. This institution is still supported partially by charitable collections and sponsors from all across the globe.

This is the largest and oldest university in north India. Spread over an area of 2,000 acres, this great place of education was established by Pt. Madan Mohan Malaviya. Today the campus has faculties of Arts, Science, Music, Sanskrit, Languages, Engineering, Statistics and Medical to name a few of them.

The university also has the huge Vishwanath temple, which was built and maintained by the Birla family. The Sunderlal Medical center has all the modern facilities of medical field is also located in the university campus.

The Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee) is located just 70 Kilometers from Meerut. Instituted as Thomason college of Civil Engineering in year 1847 by British, it was re-christened as University of Roorkee in year 1949. It is acclaimed for its fine quality of academia and for producing brilliant engineers. IIT Roorkee is one of the premier institutes across the world and is a frontrunner in higher technological education and in basic and applied research. The institute celebrated its sesquicentennial anniversary in October 1996.
