Location

The National Library of India at Kolkata is the largest library in India and India's library of public record.

It is under the Department of Culture, Ministry of Tourism & Culture, Government of India. The library is designated to collect, disseminate and preserve the printed material produced in India. The library is situated on the scenic 30 acre (120,000 m²) Belvedere Estate, in Kolkata, formerly Calcutta City. The Library is the largest in India, with a collection in excess of 2.2 million books. Before independence, it was the official residence of Lt. Governor of Bengal.

The Kheunpheling Carpet Centre is a carpet-weaving centre, situated in the Tibetan Refugee Settlement Camp of Ravangla Town. This centre is known for producing traditionally designed and woven woollen carpets. This centre was setup by the government to boost traditional Sikkimese handicraft and handloom work. People come here to learn the art of wood carving and weaving, as well as for buying some local souvenirs.

Dr. Graham's Home

Location

Dr. Graham's Home was founded in 1900 by Dr. John Anderson Graham. Located on the lower slopes of Deolo Hill, this educational institution is sprawling over an area of 500 acres. In addition, the institution also houses farmhouse, bakery, dairy, poultry, hospital and clothing department.

A festival called May Fair is organised every year at this Graham's Home. This institution is still supported partially by charitable collections and sponsors from all across the globe.

This is the largest and oldest university in north India. Spread over an area of 2,000 acres, this great place of education was established by Pt. Madan Mohan Malaviya. The Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee) is located just 70 Kilometers from Meerut. Instituted as Thomason college of Civil Engineering in year 1847 by British, it was re-christened as University of Roorkee in year 1949. It is acclaimed for its fine quality of academia and for producing brilliant engineers. IIT Roorkee is one of the premier institutes across the world and is a frontrunner in higher technological education and in basic and applied research. The institute celebrated its sesquicentennial anniversary in October 1996.
