Bhuri Singh Museum

Location

Bhuri Singh Museum at Chamba opened formally on 14-09-1908, it is named after Raja Bhuri Singh who ruled Chamba from 1904 to 1919. Bhuri Singh donated his family collection of paintings to the museum. The idea to open a public museum came from J. Ph. Vogel; an eminent Indologist who was serving A.S.I. and who through an intensive exploration had discovered, read and analyzed old inscriptions dispersed far and wide in the territory of Chamba state. These inscriptions mostly in Sarda script shed important light on the mediaeval history of Chamba.

Malda Museum

Location

Malda Museum is the preservatory of local architectural and anthropological samples. Situated on the Bandh Road of the city, the museum runs under the directions of the West Bengal Directorate of Archaeology. It houses ancient sculptures, porcelains, calligraphic inscriptions and terracotta items. All these items belong to the nearby regions of Pandura and Gaur and are estimated to be about 1500 year old. The museum is an important place of survey and research on the historic existence of these two very important cities of West Bengal.

Sabarna Sangrahashala

Location

The Sabarna Roy Choudhary family is one of the well known families of Bengal since many centuries and it was logical that their rich heritage was aptly preserved and displayed through the Sabarna Sangrahashala, a museum designed, developed and maintained by Sabarrna Roy Choudhary Paribar Parishad. The museum boasts of a grand collection rare articles and historical documents dating back to 18th century.

Nehru Children's Museum (Jawahar Shishu Bhawan)

Location

The love and affection showered by the first Prime Minister of India Jawahar Nehru was equally reciprocated by the children of the country. The construction of Shishu Bhawan in 1972 was a step initiated to carry forward the legacy of the great leader and provide a platform for the budding artists and children to assemble and exchange artistic views.

Birla Industrial and Technological Museum

Birla is a name which is associated with Industrial progress of India and the Birla group has not spared any efforts in presenting these achievements and providing an opportunity for the younger minds to experiment and understand the basic concepts of science. The Birla Industrial and Technological Museum, established in 1956 boasts of a wide spectrum of gallery and design work ranging from basic to advance science such as electronics, nuclear, communication as well as mining, iron etc.

Sarojendra Deb Raikat Kala Kendra

An Art Gallery opposite the Town Club Stadium.

One of the popular tourist places in the district, Sarojendra Deb Raikat Kala Kendra is a haven for people with an artistic bent of mind. This art gallery showcases the age-old art of the region. One can also get glimpses of the place’s history, the conventional era that has faded and given way to the contemporary or modern times. Located opposite the Town Club Stadium, the gallery is easily accessible.
