Bhim Kund

Location

This is a scenic spot. It is believed that during their exile, the Pandavas stayed here. There is a tunnel here, which is believed to be going upto Ghotiya Amab, a far off place. It is said that the Pandavas used this tunnel as their passage during the rainy season.

Arthuna Shiva Temple

Location

This place of great archaeological importance, is the major attraction of Banswara district. There is a complex of ancient temples which were built in the 11th and 12th centuries. In ancient times it was the capital city of the Parmar rulers. Many temples have been excavated which reveal the glorious past of our rich heritage. It is called the village of old and broken temples.

Andeshwar

Location

This is very famous Jain temple housing rare Shilalekhs of the 10th century. Such temples are also found in Talwara, Kalinjara, Bagidora, Ajna and Banswara. Every Jain people having the culture of visiting this temple once in their life cycle.

Abdulla Pir

Location

A shrine of Bohra Muslims saint, a large numbers of Bohra Muslims visit this place during Urs from different parts of the world every year.

Situated in the southern part of the city is the Dargah of Abdul Rasul which is known as the "Abdulla Pir". Every year "Urs" is held at the Dargah and its very popular with the masses. The people of the Bohara community take part in it in large numbers.

Krishna Temples

Location

As the name indicates, this sacred shrine is dedicated to Lord Krishna. Deity here invokes an unusual fervor among the devotees since the lord depicts exceptional charm. Lord Krishna is happened to be the most adorned and respected god among the Hindu Pantheon and so this temple complex is frequented by thousands of devotees from all parts of India.

This temple complex presents a mixed blend of Rajasthani and Mugal architecture that offers a stunning look to its structure. This serene surroundings of the temple holds shrines of other gods and goddesses, which adds much divinity to the temple.

Karni Mata Temple

Location

One of its kind, the Karni Mata temple at Deshnoke is world famous for its, hold your breath, rat worship. Thousands of black, grey as well as the special white rats (kaba) reside within the shrine premises.

The temple is 600 years old and it is widely believed that feeding the rats at this temple and getting touched by them would bring good fortune. It is also believed that these rats would reincarnate as holy men especially the white rats are considered auspicious.

History

Karni Mata was endowed with divine powers. The daughter of Meha Ji Kiniya, Karni Ji incarnated on 28th Sep., 1387 at Suvap Village in Tehsil Phalodi of Jodhpur District.She was marrid to depaji.The present deshnoke was founded by her on Baisakh Sudi Dwitiya Samvat 1476. Karni Ji developed the area into a sanctury and anyone seeking asylum in this area was put to no harm. People accused of crime used to come here and adop sanityto get themselves absolved of their sins. Karni mata witnessed the accession to royal thrones by three consecutive generations of rulers Rao Ridmal, Rao Jodha and Rao Bika. She was instrumental in enabling those three kings to get the reins of power. Rao Bika beseeched her blessings and founded a new empire in 1488A.D.

Dargah Sharif

Location

One of the most famous pilgrim center in Ajmeer, the Dargah Sharif, is the burial ground of the Sufi saint Khwaja Moin-Ud-Din Chist. This shrine is visited by millions of people every year and regarded as a holy place by devotees of all religion.

Situated in the heart of the city, the Dargah Sharif replicates the superb texture of Mugal architecture. The dargah is to be best visited on the holy occasion of annual Ur festival, when the shrine is decorated marvelously. The popular belief is that every wish from a pure heart would be fulfilled after praying here in this sacred place.

History

Born in Chisti region in Afghanistan, Saint Moinuddin Chisti was above the material and worldly things. In his process to teach mankind the high way of living he came to India and settled in Ajmer. There, he attracted large number of followers which even included kings and other people of high rank. In Ajmer he practiced the Sufi Sulh-e-Kulh which focused on Hindu-Muslim unity.
