Anokhi Museum of Hand Printing

Location

A charitable foundation mainly working at the grass root level, The Anokhi Foundation aims to preserve the centuries old customs and traditions of the artisans in Jaipur. It tries to marmalade the ethnicity, craft and artistic talents of the local people by providing employment opportunities to them. Anokhi Museum and hand printing is one among its innovative vocations, which is a great endeavor to revive the centuries old rich tradition of hand block printing.

Prachina Museum

Location

The princelly state of Bikaner was founded by Rao Bika Ji in the year 1488 A.D. Since the foundation of Bikaner, the rulers of Bikaner had a prominent and glorious role in the history of India.

Keeping with the rich and glorious past of Bikaner, daughter of present Maharaja Narendra Singh Ji recently (Oct, 2000) opened a museum "PRACHINA". It is an endeavor to recreate the past and highlight the pace of modernization activated with times and a representation of regional museum as there was a lacuna of courtly tradition and craft Museum in Bikaner.

Government Museum

Location

The famous Lohagarh Fort houses the Bharatpur Museum along with its rich treasure of archaeological wealth. The palatial building once known as the Kachahari kalan, (an Administrative block of Bharatpur state) was converted into a Museum in 1944 AD. Later other parts of the building were also attached to the museum The exhibits include excavated sculptures from old villages of Mallah, Bayana, Bareh, etc. The artifacts are from the Ist century A.D. (Kushan period) to 19th century A.D. The museum displays an array of paintings, zoological specimens, local art and manuscripts in full glory.

Dixit Wada Museum

Location

The Dixit Wada Museum is located at the center of the Sansthan complex. It is a charming and compact museum. The museum contains rare black and white photographs of Sai Baba. Baba’s Kafni that is long robes and his leather padukas and his smoking pipe are also on display. Other things which can be seen at the museum are gramophone records, water tumblers, cooking utensils and bathing stone which were used by Baba.

The museum is open for public to visit from 10 am to 6 pm.

Sai Museum

Location

The Sai Museum is a repository of all things associated with Shri Sai Baba. Maintained bt the Sai Baba Sansthan of Shirdi, the Museum has many of the most personal and intimate belongings of the Sai Baba. The museum, a part of Dwarkamai, is an important stop for devotees visitin Shirdi.

Tilak Ali Museum

Location

Tilak Ali Museum in Ratnagiri is the ancestral home of the illustrious Indian, Lokmanya Tilak. His old house has been turned into a museum and contains lots of pictures of the great freedom fighter. This memorial is maintained by the State Archaeological Department.

The museum tries to depict the significant moments in the life of Thilak through magnificent photographs. The house is a classic example of native Konkani architecture.

Raigad Museum

Location

Raigad Museum: A tour to Raigad will not be complete without a visit to the Raigad museum, which is located at Lower Station of Raigad Fort. The museum has been created with the help of stalwarts of the Maratha history like Shri Ninadji Bedekar and Shri Babasaheb Purandare.

Mahatma Phule Museum

Location

Mahatma Phule Museum, established in 1875, is presently known as Mahatma Phule Vastu Sangrahalaya and is located in the heart of the city Pune. The exhibits in this museum include marble statues, brassware items, stone carvings and oil paintings. It also displays many other artifacts, textile and jewelry items, arms and armory, handicrafts, items related to geology, agriculture, forestry, natural history and industry.
