Express citizen’s forum, an organization of Pune citizens, was the driving force in building the National War Museum. The War memorial was opened to the nation in October 1988 in a record time after the stone laying foundation held in November 1997.

The 25 feet pillar represents the memorial. This grand idea was successful by the whole hearted help of all people of Pune, irrespective of the cast, creed and religion. People from all walks of life contributed lavishly for this great cause. It is a patriotic site to pay homage to the great sacrifice of India’s War fighters.

Raj Dinakar Kelkar Museum: Raj Dinakar Kelkar Museum is located at the busy Bajirao Road in the heart of the Pune city. This museum displays varieties of artifacts which shows the vastness and diversity of culture of the country and people. The Museum houses many passionate items collected by Dr. D. G. Kelkar.

Tribal Museum is Pune showcases the features of tribal life and culture in the state of Maharashtra. The museum located to the east of Pune off Koregaon road is managed and maintained by Tribal Research and training Institute.

Jehangir Art Gallery, built in 1952 by Sir Cowasji Jehnagir, is one of the most attracted tourist destination in Mumbai. The art gallery is placed behind the renowned Prince of Whales Museum in Kala Ghoda. This famous art gallery has four exhibition halls.

National gallery of Modern art is managed by Department of Culture, Government of India. It is established in Mumbai in 1996 and is aimed at promoting the modern trends in arts, without denigrating the ancient Indian culture. The department is arranging many art exhibitions and thousands of art lovers participate in these exhibitions.

Prince of Wales Museum, built at the beginning of 20th century, is located at the MG Road. The museum commemorates the visit of Prince of Wales to India. Presently the museum is known 'Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya' and the renaming had taken place after the Indian Independence.

Shahuji Chathrapati Museum is established by converting part of the royal palace in Kolhapur. This is an unforgettable museum with exquisite collections of rare paintings, artifacts and sculptures. The museum displays the royal weapons, many still art materials showing the court life. The so called aristocratic ambience can be felt in this museum.
