Mahatma Gandhi Nagar Gruh

Location

Located near Jubilee Baug, Mahatma Gandhi Nagar Gruh is the town hall of the city which was constructed in 1954. This fully air conditioned hall that has a capacity of accommodating thousands people at a time is used for various cultural functions. It has three dressing rooms and a statue of Mahatma Gandhi is located within the compound.

Hanging Bridge

Location

Hanging Bridge is located in Morbi of Rajkot. It was made from wire ropes and wood, during the British rule. The bridge is 165 feet long and 4.5 feet broad and has been constructed over the River Machchhu. Crossing the bridge is a sensational experience for the visitors.

Lighthouse

Location

A port was established in the early 19th century at Rupen creek. A flag mast was posted at the port to lift a lamp. This flag mast served the function of a lighthouse. In the year 1866, a square tower of stone, 18m in height, was built at the present site. An oil wick lamp was subsequently installed on the tower.

On 29th November 1877, the then Governor of Bombay Sir Richard Temple visited Dwarka by sea route. He came to the Dwarka Lighthouse and found the light to be grossly insufficient. As a result, a PV equipment with 4th order revolving optic, sourced from M/s. Chance Bros., England, substituted the wick lamp in the year of 1881. Minor modifications were also done to this Lighthouse in Dwarka in 1900.

Golden Bridge

Location

The Golden Bridge that connects Bharuch to Ankleshwar across the Narmada River was built in 1881 by the British. It is called so because the iron used for the construction of the bridge is very sturdy, resistant to rust and rare hence it is much much more expensive than modern steel.

Location

Ferozepur city situated right on the Indo- Pakistan border. It is one of the major border areas that India have with Pakistan.Border security forces host a special parade every day for visitors. It is only event of its type in this entire world world where citizens of these two nations sit extremely close to each other enjoying the flag removal ceremony. This event is not seen anywhere in the world. This ceremony also takes place at the wagha border (Amritsar) but people of both nation are hardly able to see each other. It is an treat to watch the entire show.

Sheikh Farid Agman Purab

Location

Sheikh Farid Agam is celebrated from 15 September to 23 September. This festival starts with Live Theater competition, Qwali competition, other art and culture programs. This is followed up by Sports events such as National level wrestling, Hockey, Volleyball and football matches. Nagar kiran is on 23rd September. More than 1,00,000 people attend this festival every year.
