Deobandh Temple

Location

The Deobandh temple on the banks of a river basin is dedicated to Lord Ganesha. Situated in a small village at Kherwadi in Khodala the temple has many devotees visiting during the festival of Ganesh Utsav. The temple is located at the bottom of the valley and has great views of the surrounding mountains. The Deobandh waterfalls is also located here.

Deobandh, a famous temple on the banks of an enthralling river basin and boarded on three sides by the river, is situated in a small village at the woody interiors of Sahyadri range and is adjacent to the Wild Camp at Kherwadi, Khodala. The temple is dedicated to Lord Ganesha and is placed at the bottom of a valley.

Datta Mandir

Location

A red-domed temple, which is situated on a hilltop, Datta mandir offers the picturesque view of Murud-Janjira and the entire coastal area that surrounds it. Dedicated to Shri Datta, this magnificient shrine is constructed by Swami Bramhendra. Placed on the lavishness of lush greenery, Datta Mandir, is safe and sound from all sorts of commercialisation and it commands a breathtaking view, which makes the fairly strenuous climb to the top a worthy one.

Bhavani Temple

Location

Bhavani temple, also known as Bhavani Khadageshwar Temple, is located at Devale nearby Karnala. The temple is placed at the peak of the hilly regions. It is surrounded by ancient water tanks and rock cut caves formed by Buddhists. The temple enshrines Goddess Lakshmi, the idol is imposing with majestic glory.

Shiva Temple

Location

The ancient and revered Shiva temple located in Ambarnath close to Karnala is assumed to be built by Manmuniraja of Shilahara dynasty in 1060 AD. This is one of the temples where both cults of Vaishnavites and Shivaites offer prayers. The exterior of the temple is adorned with sculptured images of epic stories and of themes related to Vaishanava and Shaiva puranas.

The temple interior is covered with breath taking carvings and the mastery with which the images are made really amazes any visitor. The temple is thronged by the devotees on Shivarathri day.

Kondeshwar Temple

Location

Shri Kondeshwar Temple, an ancient elegant temple, is located on the hilly forest range of Pohara nearby Kamshet. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple also encloses many small shrines around the main sanctum sanctorum. The temple premises offer a scenic view with the green dense forests all around. Mahashivaratri is a festival conducted here attracting many devotees from all the state.

Ghatandevi Mandir

Location

Ghatan devi according to the locals is the Protector of Ghats and therefore the temple is situated on a small road after crossing the Camel valley, just before entering Igatpuri. The spectacular mountains of Durrar Utvad, Trimak and Harihar form a spectacular backdrop against the temple. The Tringalwadi fort lies behind the temple.

Am impressive structure, Ghatandevi Temple is situated in a scenic place just ahead of Igatpuri. A unique shrine of its own, its deity is Ghatan Devi, believed to be the protector of ghats by the locals. Bounded by the massive Western Ghats, the temple for the Goddess of Ghats presents an eye-catching spectacle to the devotee. The majestic peaks of Harihar, Durvar Utvad and Trimak poses as an imposing backdrop to this elegant shrine.

Shakti temple

Location

Right in front of the Vishwanath temple is Shakti temple. It has a big 'Trishul' of about 6 meters in height and a circumference of 90 cms. at bottom. Though there are different views about the making of this, the upper part of it seems to be made up of iron and the lower one is of copper. As per the epics this Shakti was thrown on the devils by the Goddess Durga(Shakti), hence it gets its name. Since then this Shakti is erected over here.

Vishwanath Temple

Location

The Vishwanath Temple devoted to Lord Shiva is situated approx. 300 meters away from the local bus stand at Uttarkashi. This temple was renovated by Maharani Khaneti, wife of Sudarshan Shah in 1857. The temple has a Shivling (60 cm. high and 90 Cm. Circumference). People from all over India do also visit the Vishvanath temple during their visits to Uttarkashi ,Gangotri and Yamunotri.
