Atariya Temple

At a distance of 2 kms. from the bus stand and half a kilometer away from the Rudrapur- Haldwani motor route, is situated the famous temple of Atariya.Every year during the occasion of 'Navratras' a large fair is held here and thousands of devotees come to seek the blessings of Goddess Atariya.The fair is held for ten days.

Nanak Matta

Situated at a distance of 56 km from Rudrapur on the Rudrapur- Tanakpur motor route, Nanak Matta is a great pilgrimage centre of Sikh religion. Guru Nanak visited this place. Thousands of pilgrims come here throughout the year. A tourist Rest House and Gurudwara are available for night stay. A big dam has been constructed on river Saryu at Nanak Matta. This is in itself a beautiful picnic spot where one can enjoy boating and fishing. The dam is situated at a distance of 56 Km from Udham Singh Nagar (Rudrapur). The serene lake water reflecting the clear sky is a breathtaking sight.

Tungnath Temple

Location

An epitome of sanctity that is Tungnath temple at the height of 3680 meters atop the Chandranath parvat. One among the Panch Kedars, Tungnath temple houses some of the most captivating vistas in the entire Himalayan region. The summit of Tungnath is the source of awesome waterfalls, which gives a rejuvenating vigor to the beholder.

As per the popular belief, Shiva’s hands were fallen of here at Tungnath during his struggle with Bhima, one of the Pandava brothers. The temple is set in the midst of a bewitching ambience where the Chandrashila peak guards the nature with its majestic allure. Unsurpassed beauty of the surroundings like the meandering paths flanked by rhododendron coppices and lush alpine meadows attributes the grandeur of the shrine furthermore.

Buda Kedar Temple

Location

This temple is situated at the confluence of the Bal Ganga and Dharam Ganga rivers, at a motorable distance of 59 km from Tehri. It is believed that Duryodhan offered tarpana here. According to legends, it is at this temple that the Pandavas encountered Rishi Balkhily at Bhrigu Parvat when they were on the lookout for Shiva after the Kurukshetra battle. The Rishi directed them to the site of the confluence to meet an old man meditating there. But when the Pandava got there, the old man vanished and instead, a shivling appeared there.

Chandrabadni

Location

The Chandrabadni a mountain (2,277 m. above sea-level), lying in Lat. 30* 18' N. and Long. 78* 37' E.,on the border of tehsil Devaprayag and Pratapnagar is well known for the temple of Chandrabadni Devi which lies at the top of the mountain about 10 km. north of Kandi Khal ( a place on the Devaprayag-Kirti Nagar metalled road), 22 km. from Devaprayag and 109 km from Narendra Nagar. It is said that when sati, the wife of siva,gave up her life in the yajna started by her father and siva was carrying her body to Kailash, her torso fell here.

Kunjapuri

Location

Kunjapuri is the name given to a peak having an altitude of about 1,676 m. It lies in Lat. 30`11` N. and Long. 78`20` E., about 93 km. from Devaprayag and 7 km. from Narendra Nagar. It commands a beautiful view of the snow-ranges of the Himalayas and of the valley of the Bhagirathi. It contains an old temple dedicated to the goddess Kunjapuri Devi which is visited by a number of people every year. Nearby, in Agarakhal, there is a dak bungalow situated in picturesque surroundings and mantnained by the public works department.

Temple of Nagraja

Location

At a height of 2903 m, situated in the interior of the district, the temple of Nag Raja at Sem Mukhem is held in high esteem by the people of the area. Transport facilities are available up to Khamba Khal, a distance of 64 kms. from Tehri. One has to walk for about 7 kms. from the Khamba Khal to reach Sem. The temple is situated at the top of a hill about 5 kms. from the village Mukhem which is 2 kms. from the motor head of Khamba Khal. Accommodation is provided by the 'Pandas' of the village Mukhem .

Agasteshwar mahadev

Location

18 km from Rudraprayag, at an altitude of 1000 m and on the bank of river Mandakini, this is the place where rishi Agastya meditated for years. This temple is dedicated to sage Agastya and is also of an archaeological significance; figures of Gods and Goddess have been carved out on stones. On the occasion of Baisakhi a large fair is held and many devotees come here to worship and pay their homage to God.Panch Kedar: Madmaheshwar, Tungnath, Rudranath and Kalpnath with Kedarnath form the Panch Kedar, the five most important temple of Lord Shiva in Garhwal Himalayas.

Chadrashila

Location

Chandrashila is most accessible peak of the U.P. Himalayas, at an Altitude of 3679 m especially since most of the peaks are difficult to scale. A climb to this mini peak in Rudraprayag district is arranged by Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam(GMVN). This combines scaling, skiing and trekking through a route of rich flora and fauna, lakes, meadows full of fresh snow in the winter months. The Chandrashila peak itself provides a rare panoramic view of innumerable snow clad peaks.
