Kaila Devi Temple

Location

At a distance of 25 km from the Karauli city sits pretty the shrine of Kaila Devi smack on the banks of the Kalisil River in the hills of Trikut. The temple of the Goddess (Goddess Lakshmi, the Goddess of wealth) attracts millions of pilgrims every year and the annual fair lasting a fortnight is the main attraction.

Right in front of the Kaila Devi temple is another minor temple dedicated to Bhairon. Another interesting shrine right in the courtyard is that of Lord Hanuman (The Monkey God). Interesting because the God is called Languriya (slang for monkey).

Kalyanji Temple

Location

The city of Karauli derived its name erstwhile name from the deity Kalyanji. The city was earlier known as Kalyanpuri. The deity has been accorded a place of importance amongst the 300 odd temples scattered in and around Karauli. The temples of Madan Mohanji and Kalyanji are considered one of the most important temples amongst the congregation. The temple of Kalyanji especially is considered to be the guiding force behind the welfare and progress of the city. The temple itself is and imposing structure built in traditional style and housing the deities idol inside the main hall.

Baba Ramdev Temple (Adhar Shila Temple)

Location

Baba Ramdev Temple (also known as Adhar Shila Temple) is situated on top of a sandstone hill called Massuria Hills between Jalori Gate and Nagori Gate in Jodhpur. It is a very ancient temple known primarily for its antiquity.

In a small rock in front of the temple are inscribed the words “Enter at your own risk‿. These words lend an aura of mystic charm to the temple. There are several unproven local legends and myths about the origin and deity of the temple, which further enhance the mystic appeal of this ancient temple in the minds of those fantasy-struck tourists.

Chamunda Mata Temple

Location

Chamunda Mata Temple was built by Rao Jodha, the man known as the founder of Jodhpur, when he brought the deity of his favourite goddess Chamunda Mata to Jodhpur in 1460. He constructed a temple near Mehrangarh fort and installed the deity there. The temple is situated near the southern gate of Mehrangarh fort in the outskirts of Jodhpur city.

Ganesh Temple

Location

Ganesh Temple is situated in a place called Ratananda, which is about five kilometres away from Jodhpur city. Lord Ganesh is the elephant god and the son of Lord Shiva in Hindu mythology. Myth has it that a person, who was a teacher by profession, one day saw a huge statue of Lord Ganesh in the hills of Ratananda. The statue was said to have a height of 8 feet and a width of 5 feet. A temple was constructed where the statue had been found. This temple attracts thousands of devotees each year.

Santoshi Mata Temple

Location

Santhoshi Mata Temple is situated in Lal Sagar, near Mandore, which is about 10 kilometres away from Jodhpur city. Santhoshi Mata is a goddess worshipped particularly by women in India. There are several Santhoshi Mata temples in various places all over India. But the temple in Jodhpur is considered among devotees as the ‘original temple’.

Shrine of the Three Hundred Million Gods

Location

Shrine of the Three Hundred Million Gods is situated in Mandore Gardens, which is about 10 kilometres away from the city of Jodhpur. This shrine is one of the major attractions of the Mandore Gardens. In this shrine, as its name implies, a visitor can find lavishly decorated and brilliantly coloured images of an unbelievable number of Hindu gods and goddesses.

Kunthanath Temple

Location

Kunthanath temple in Jaisalmer is one of the popular religious destinations of the Jain devotees. The temple, one of the many highly acclaimed Jain temples in Jaisalmer, is dedicated to Lord Kunthanath, one of the Jain Tirthankar. The temple is a near replica of a Hastinapur temple dedicated to Lord Kunthanath, Hastinapur was the birthplace of Lord Kunthanath.
