Dedicated to the sun god, centuries old Surya temple is a popular attraction in Nalanda. It is situated just near to he University premises. Apart from the idols of so many gods and goddess, one can find Buddhist deities inside the temple premises.
The great stupa at Nalanda is the end result of seven consecutive accretions. Flanked by flight of steps and terraces, beautiful sculpture and votive stupas the great stupa offers a glance of the past splendor of Nalanda.
The village in Benipatti block is noted for its temple of Bhagwati on the western bank of river Thumne. According to a legend, renowned Sanskrit poet and dramatic Kalidas was blessd by Bhagwati at this place.
This is a road side village on the Madhubani-Jaynagar road and is renowned for a temple known as Somnath Mahadev. It owes its importance to the annual Sabha held by Maithili Brahmins for negotiating marriages.

About 1 km away, this large stupa rises to a height of 49 ft. It marks the site where the Lord Buddha was cremated. In ancient Buddhist texts this stupa has been referred to as Mukut-Bandhan Vihar.
Mata kaur Shrine houses a 10th century blue schist image of the Buddha. This shrine lies about 400 yards from the Parinirvana stupa. A black stone image of the Buddha in the bhumi sparsha mudra was recovered here. The last sermon by Lord Buddha was given here.
Which is built on the place of Buddha's Mahaparinirvana (Great Nirvana or passing away), and the place of his cremation, which is 1.6 km away. Close to the Mahaparinirvana Stupa is located a 1500 year old Buddha-image of the Buddha as he attained Parinirvana. The Mahaparinirvana Stupa is surrounded by ruins of ancient monasteries.
This houses the over 6 mtrs long statue of reclining Buddha. The image was unearthed during the excavations of 1876. Carved from Chunar sandstone, the statue represents the dying Buddha reclining on his right side. An inscription below dates the statue to the fifth century AD.
This huge brickwork stupa, exposed by Carlyl in 1876, stands at a height of 2.74 mtr. A copper vessel was unearthed at this site. It bore an inscription in ancient Brahmi, which stated that Lord Buddha's remains had been deposited here.
