Gita Bhawan

Location

Gita Bhavan has statues of gods from various religions. It is said to have been inspired by the motto "many names to a God is after all of one God."

This is not one temple but a group of shrines, chief of which is dedicated to Annapurna Devi (the Goddess of cereal and grain). The architectural style here is definitely south Indian.

Bada Ganpati

Location

Bada Ganpati is a temple known for its large Ganesha idol measuring 25 feet in height. Shri Dadhich, an inhabitant of Ujjain saw a dream which led to the construction of the Bada Ganpati temple in 1875.

Built in the year 1875, during the reign of Rani Ahilya Bai Holkar, Khajrana is famous for housing the largest Ganapati statue in the world. From crown to foot the deity measures eight meters in length.

Made up of a weird mix of limestone, jaggery, bricks, and mud from the stables of elephants and horses, besides holy soil and water from the major pilgrim places and the deity’s image generate a significant impact on the devotee. Deity’s frame is made of precious metals, and the deity looks amazingly wonderful.

Annapurna Temple

Location

The Annapurna Devi temple has four majestic life-sized elephants supporting an ornamental doorway and colorful figurines depicting mythological characters and stories. The temple building houses temples of Siva, Kal Bhairava and Hanuman, and has a discourse hall.

Dedicated to the goddess Annapoorna, this temple is one among the famous pilgrimage centers in Indore. Not only devotees, but also tourists come to see this majestic shrine.

As per Hindu Mythology, Annapoorna Devi is believed to be the goddess of food. This temple bears a resemblance to the famous Madurai Meenakshi Temple of Madurai.

Sun Temple

Location

Located near the Residency at Morar, the newly constructed Sun Temple takes its inspiration from the famous Konark Sun Temple in Orissa.Distance from Railway Station / Bus Stand : 5.00 Kms. Approx.

A newly built temple dedicated to the Sun god, the Sun Temple is located near residency at Morar, Gwalior. It is a facsimile of the famous Sun temple of Konark, Orissa and now this sun temple is one among the significant pilgrimage centers in Gwalior.

Gopachal Parvat

Location

It is situated on the Mountain Area at slopes of Gwalior Fort carries statue of Jain Tirthankars. The largest Idol of Bhagwan Parshwanath on Lotus is the largest statue(in single stone piece) in the world, being 47 feet high and 30 feet in width. 26 Jain statues in a series give a beautiful and attractivce picturescue.Built between 1398 to 1536 by Tomar Kings. Distance from Railway station/Bus-stand is 2km approx.

Chatarbhuj Mandir

Location

Chatarbhuj Mandir in Gwalior in India is one of the fascinating places for the tourists. Chatarbhuj Mandir, Madhya Pradesh was built in AD 876 and is a Vishnu shrine. It is also called the temple of the four armed. Another belief goes that the temple was built to enshrine Lord Rama. Later on it was found out that the idol cannot be moved into the palace and from then on the temple came to be revered.

Bhojashala Mosque

Location

A major tourist attraction in the small medieval town of Dhar is the Bhojashala Mosque.

The mosque was originally a temple. It is believed to have been constructed by Raja Bhoj. Later after the accession of Alauddin Khilji to the throne of Delhi, Dhar came under Islamic influence and it was probably at this time that the temple was converted to a mosque.

Sphatik Shila

Location

A landmark destination in the holy pilgrim centre of Chitrakoot is the Sphatik Shila. As the literal meaning of this Sanskrit word suggests, Sphatik a reddish crystal like rock where lord ram and his beloved wife used to sit and admire the scenic ambiance of the surroundings. Nearby boulder houses a footprint, which is believed to be that of the lord and paying a visit to Sphatik Shila is an inevitable part in the Chitrakoot Pilgrimage.

This pictorial location on the left banks of Mandkini River holds a funny but lovable story about the divine concern that Ram has got towards Sita. It says that Ram had taken the eye of Jayant who had pecked the feet of Sita devi while they were relaxing here at Sphatic Shila.

Ram Ghat

Location

This is the shore of Mandakini river. It is believed that Lord Ram bathed here with Laxman and Sita Ji on their arrival in Chitrakoot.The famous saint-poet Tulsidas is also believed to have lived here for quite some time

As per Hindu Mythology Ram and Sita along with Lakshman had spend more than 11 years in and around the serene environ of Chitrakoot and amongst the holy places in the near vicinity Ram Ghat marks predominant place since it was the place where the lord himself used to take his bath. The devotees make their holy dip in this famous Ghat on the strong belief that it would absolve them from all their sins.
