Ettumanoor Shiva Temple

Location

Ettumanoor Shiva Temple is an ancient temple dedicated to Lord Shiva in the Central Travancore. Mythological stories boast that Pandavas and Great Sage Vyasa offered their prayers to Lord Shiva in this temple. The name Ettumanoor is derived from the word Manoor, means home of deer. The present temple is believed to be the one reconstructed during 1542 AD.

The temple structure, the Gopuram and the golden flag mast are all attractive and specimen examples of architectural mastery of Kerala.. Many mural paintings depicting vedas and mythological stories adorn the walls of the temple. The wall painting of Pradosha Nritham (Dance of Shiva) is very attractive.

Chottanikkara Bhagavathy Temple

Location

Chottanikkara Bhagavathy temple is the most important religious worshipping place in Central Kerala. It is under the administration of Cochin Devaswom Board. The main deity in the temple is Goddess Rajarajeshwari, also renowned as Adiparashakthi. It is believed that the temple deity is worshipped as three forms of Devi, as Saraswati in the morning, Lakshmi at noon and as Durga at the evening. The deity is called as Amme Narayana, Devi Narayana, Bhadre Narayana and Lakshimi Narayana as there is a Vishnu (Naryana) idol is placed in the same pedestal of Goddess Rajarajeswari.

Thali Shiva Temple

In India there are many temples and monuments to the various Gods and in particular the God Shiva, which is the all powerful one. Thali Shiva Temple is a monument and a religious shrine that is dedicated to honor the all powerful God Lord Shiva. In April and May commences an 8 day festival which focuses on honoring Lord Shiva in the Thali Shiva Temple. This 8 day festival ends in a holy bath ritual. Thali Shiva Temple takes many visitors from all over the world, but especially in festival days, it is very difficult to find an empty place to stand.

Tali Temple

Tali Temple is one of the oldest and the most ancient temples around. It is a very distinct temple, and its history goes all the way back to the times of the Zamorin rule. IN general, Tali Temple is a Shiva Temple, and it results in many pilgrimages and visitors every year. In fact, Tali Temple has five different religious ceremonies that are performed every day, but the real time that Tali Temple becomes full is when the Malayalam New Year comes and a very joyful seven day festival occurs that centers around religious icons in the Tali Temple.

Nityanandashram Caves

Location

Hosdurg is popularly known for the Nityanandashram which is an excellent place that has grabbed the attention of quite number of tourists. It is considered to be an excellent place for meditation. Due to this highlighting feature, a massive group of people visit the Nityanandashram Caves without fail during their trip. This place is recognized to be the international far-famed spiritual center. Moreover, the Nityanandashram is set with forty-five caves and there will be an effigy sculpture of Sculpture of Swami Nityananda, which is made out of panchaloha.

St Mary's Church

The St. Mary Forane Church was built in 1870. It is one of the oldest churches in the state of Kerala, and is believed to be one of the seven churches that were historically established by St. Thomas. Sometimes this church is referred to as the Champakulam Church. It is located in such a remote area that only the occasional bicycle and canoe frequents this place. This particular church is known for the beautiful mural paintings that are inside. The St. Thomas Statuary, where wooden statues of Christ are created for export, is located near this church.
