Pangang Teng Tso Lake

Location

Pangang Teng Tso Lake, one of the most famous lakes of Arunachal Pradesh, is located at a distance of 18 kilometre from Tawang Township. Popularly known as P.T. Tso Lake, this lake is one of the ideal spots for picnic. The word 'Tso' in Monpa dialect means Monpa. During the winter months, the lake remains entirely frozen. Kile Pakho

Location

Kile Pakho is a ridge located at a distance of 7 km from old Ziro and is one of the famous attractions. Tourists can have a sight of the Ziro plateau on one side and the snow covered range of Himalayas, known as Nyime Pembu, on the other.

Brahmaputra River

Location

Brahmaputra River, renowned as Yarlung Tsangpo River in Tibet, originates from the south-western part of Tibet. It enters India through the Himalayas, where it is known as Dihang. In Barpeta, the river flows from south-west as Brahmaputra and goes into Bangladesh as the Jamuna. The 2,900 km long river Brahmaputra is the main river often used for irrigation and transportation purposes. Tourists can visit Baghbar hills for beautiful views of the river as it flows down from the Great Himalayas.

Beki River

Location

Beki River is one of the right bank tributaries of Brahmaputra River, which flows down from the region. Tourists can have beautiful view of the river and its natural surroundings from the bridges situated on NH no- 31. Discharging a huge amount of water every year, the river turns dangerous during monsoon season.

Manas River

Location

Manas River, one of the rivers flowing in the destination, is a trans-boundary river located on the foothills of the great Himalayan ranges. Serving as a link between southern Bhutan and India, the name of the river is derived from the name of Lord Manasa, the serpent god in Hindu mythology.

The part of river covering 272 km flows through Bhutan and the remaining part is in Assam. The river joins the Brahmaputra River at Jogighopa which is located at a distance of around 90 km from the destination.

Dadan Hillock

Location

Dadan hill has a temple of Shiva at its peak, which was set up by Dadan, one of the Generals of King Bana of Sonitpur. A number of mythological stories are related to this Dadan hill cradled on the riverbank of Dariduri. It is widely believed that a wild elephant was killed by this General at the foothill of Dadan. The General was a disciple of Lord Shiva and he killed the elephant as it used to disturb him while meditating. However, that elephant can now be viewed in the form of a stone, lying on the riverbank of Dariduri.

Tamranga Lake

Location

Tamranga Lake is a natural lake that is situated in the Bongaigaon Region of Assam. This lake is also renowned as Tamranga Beel and lies nearby Bishnupur in the northern region of Salmara. Formed by the combination of two lakes, the source of its water is the flood-water of River Brahmaputra.

Besides, bird lovers can head towards this place as it is called the Ornithologists Paradise. Several migratory birds visit this lake throughout the year.

Rock Cut Caves

Location

Rock Cut Caves are situated on the banks of River Brahmaputra, and display the architecture of the Salasthambha period. Located at Jogighopa, the ruins of these caves corroborate the belief that Assam was not outside the movement of the particular type of art, which was developing in Western India at that time.

Apart from having a roof, which is round in shape, these caves also possess a height of around 1.90 m with a breadth of 2.60 m and are about 1.8 mdeep. Though the caves do not have any kind of sculptural design, these possess a platform of mud and brick.
