Na-Pukhuri

Location

Na-Pukhuri is a cluster of nine ponds, located in the south-eastern region of Tinsukia. It is a historical monument built during the period of King Sarbananda Singha. Various other ponds and tanks were constructed in Tinsukia during his reign.

Among these nine ponds, the one situated in the centre is the most popular. This tank covers an area of around 11.75 acres and is filled with natural water, which is why it is also called a lake. The Tinsukia District Administration decided to develop this historical site into an amusement park and a tourists’ spot.

Rukmini Island

Location

The Rukmini Island covers an area of around 3.25 sq km. It is located in the middle of the Brahmaputra River. This place is home to many migratory and indigenous birds. Long sandy beaches are the major attractions of this island. It is also popular for activities like parasailing.

Nimati

Location

Nimati, also known as the Nimatighat, is located around 17 km away from Jorhat. This site is counted amongst the important river ports of the district, as well as of Upper Assam. The ghat also serves as a link for ferry boats that operate from the river port to the Majuli Island, Kamalabari and Auniati.

Tengapania

Location

Tengapania situated on the banks of the Brahmaputra River is one of the famous picnic spots in the destination. The beautiful site, bounded by Dhakuakhana, Machkhoa and Disangmukh, draws attention of tourists.

The site is located at a distance of 24 km from Sibsagar, which is well connected with Majuli and Jorhat. Simaluguri Junction is the closest railhead that provides easy access to Tengapania.

Champawati Kunda

Location

Champawati Kunda, also known as the Chapanalla Falls, is situated in Chapanalla Village. It is situated on the Tezpur-Nagaon-Dimapur Road. The kunda is surrounded by the thick forests of the Laokhowa Wildlife Sanctuary. Thousands of migratory birds can be seen here during the winter season.

Ouguri Hills

Location

Ouguri Hills is another popular sightseeing destination of Tezpur, situated on the banks of Brahmaputra River. The specialty of this hill is a statue of Kanaklata, placed on its top. Kanaklata was a martyr in the Quit India Movement. Its hill top also provides a complete view of the Brahmaputra River and Tezpur town. Its rugged terrains are also popular amongst rock climbers.

Kamala sagar

Location

Kamala sagar, located few kilometres away from Agartala town is a beautiful vast lake at the border of Bangladesh. Legends reveal that this lake was excavated in the 15th century by Maharaja Dhanya Manikya. A famous temple dedicated to Goddess Kali, stands at the bank of Kamalasagar that was built in the 16th century. A deity of Goddess Durga dating back to 12th century is positioned inside the temple. Owing to the scenic beauty, this lake serves as one of the excellent picnic spots in the north-eastern state of Tripura.

Dhosi Hill

Location

Dhosi Hill is located to western side of the town of Narnaul, at a distance of 8km. Located near to villages of Kultajpur and Thana, this hill is popularly known as the place where Chavan Rishi practised penance for several years. A ruined fortress is on the top of the hill, which is believed to be built by King Naunkaran of Bikaner. Other than the ancient ruins, the hill also houses a temple dedicated to Chavan Rishi.
