Bharati Buwa's Mutt

Location

Bharati Buwa's Mutt is a holy ashram in Tuljapur. The establishment of the Mutt was done by Saint Bharati Buwa, who was one of the ardent devotees of Sri Tulja Bhavani. It is believed that Sri. Tulja Bhavani wakes up in the morning only when is called by Bharati Buwa. Bharati Buwa is believed to be the incarnation of Lord Siva as well. Folklore says that Goddess Bhavani engage in dice games everyday evening with the saint.

The mutt is praise worthy religious center to have meditation and tranquil stay. The rituals and practices in this place are notable and religious.

Chintamani

Location

Chintamani (pearl of thinking) is a structure resembling round stone outside the Tuljapur Bhawani Mandir. Chintamani is believed to be the Goddess who help the devotees to take right decision at right time. Surrounding this there are many smaller shrines dedicated to Matangi, Narimsha, khandoba and Yamee Devi.

Dhakte Tuljapur

Location

Dhakte Tuljapur, the young Tuljapur, is famous for a small temple in the outskirts of Tuljapur town, about 2 km away from the temple region of town. The small idol of Tulja Bhawani enshrining this temple is believed to be discovered at this place by a Muslim and mythologically, this temple forms a part of Tulja Bhawani temple. The pilgrim tour to Tuljapur will be complete only with visiting the temple at Dhakte Tuljapur

Ghat Sheel Temple

Location

Ghat Shila Temple at Tuljapur has a devotional mythological story behind it. It is believed that Lord Rama and brother Lakshmana passed through the Shila (rocks) in Ghat (mountains) of Tuljapur searching for Sita. Tulja Bhawani stood on the rocks to direct Lord Rama the way to Lanka where Sita was kept.

Sant Garibnath Mutt

Location

Sant Garibnath mutt, also known as called Dashavatar (ten incarnations) mutt, is located close to the main temple in Tuljapur. The Mutt is attractive with images of ten incarnations of Vishnu on the walls. This is an old mutt with history of centuries behind it established by Vishnu devotee Sant Garibnath.

The Mutt offers yoga classes. The Mutt performs many rituals offering prayers to Vishnu and Tulja Bhawani Devi every day. Mutt is open to all devotees during the daytime. Special pujas can be performed in the Mutt.

Tulja Bhavani Mandir

Location

The Tulja Bhavani Mandir is one of the 51 Shakti Pithas in India and is located in an aesthetic ambiance in Tuljapur. Tulja Bhavani temple was constructed during the 12th Century. The main sanctum of this medieval temple stands as a specimen of temple architecture of 12th Century. The prime deity is Tulja Bhavani, a form of Goddess Devi. The idol is of one meter high carved out of granite.

Vishnu Tirth

Location

Vishnu Tirth is situated on the northeastern side of the Tulja Bhawani temple. This Tirth has three entrances. The holy water in this tirth is believed to be from the confabulation of the holy rivers in India, Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati. The tank has stone steps leading to the entrances. Taking a dip at the Vishnu tirth is a ritual for all those visiting the Tuljapur temple.

Pilgrims believe that a dip with prayers in this tirth removes all sins and sanctify the mind and body. It is equivalent to going to Kashi. Huge draw of devotees are seen everyday at Vishnu Tirth.

Gorakhnath Gufa

Location

Gorakhnath Gufa is a famous cave located at the halfway ascent in Brahmagiri hills. It is located few steps down to Gangadwar. The cave is intriguing with many attractive carvings. The gufa is on the premises of the Shrine dedicated to Goddess Ganga in The Brahmagiri hills.

It is believed that the noted Guru Gorakhnath had undergone penance here in this cave. Devotees offer prayers at this Gufa to remove all the sins committed during the earthly living. The beautiful serene ambiance in the region make it a pleasant spot for pilgrimage.

Gangdwar

Location

Brahmagiri hill is the place where the famous River Godavari originates. The source is on the top of the hill. After its emergence from this spot, the river appears first time only half way on the hills. This place is known as Gangadwar. The name Gangadwar (way or passage of Ganga) come from the legendary stories relating to Brahmagiri and Ganga.
