Kedareshwar Temple

Location

Kedareshwar temple in Trimbakeshwar is located in the picturesque area known as Kushavarta. This temple is on the South East corner of Kushavarta. The temple is dedicated to Kedareshwar Mahadev, one of the forms of Lord Shiva. The temple resembling age old style of Hindu caves.

Legends tell that Lord Kedarnath appeared in the form of Kedarbhatta to save Saint Gautama from the sin of killing a cow. He made Gautama to take bath in the water flows through the place assumed to be from Ganga and hence saint had performed the repentance.

Neel Parbat

Location

Neel Parbat (Peak) is located on the eastern side of Brahmahgiri hills. This peak is amazing with undulated and unexplored regions. The lush green trees, springs and tranquil atmosphere makes it a must see region in Trimbakeshwar. The eye catching views of the foothills from the Neel Parbat are really praise worthy. The cool ambiance of the hilly terrains makes it a perfect location for mountaineering, nature walks and trekking. Neel parbat offers mild to medium trekking challenges for trekking enthusiasts.

Ram Lakshman Tirtha

Location

Ram Lakshman Tirtha is located just few steps down to Gorakh Gumpha. Gorakh Gumpha was the place where Guru Gorakhnath practiced penance for removing the sin of killing a cow. At this location, River Ganga flows from the roots of a big Audumbar tree. This flow of Ganga in this hilly terrain of Brahmagiri hills is known as Rama-Laxman tirtha.

Legends teach us that Lord Rama spent few days at this Tirtha to do the Shraddha (rituals for the salvation of the souls) for his father Dasharatha. There is a Rama temple at this location. The temple is built by Gopalrao Ghanekar in 1857.

Trimbakeshwar Jyotirlinga Temple

Location

Trimbakeshwar Jyotirlinga temple is one of the 12 famous Jyotirlinga temple in India. It is a renowned Hindu pilgrim location. The Jyotirlinga in Trimbakeshwar is spectacular and unique with three faces embodying Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva. The Linga is crowned with a jewel studded crown believed to be from Pandavas. The crown is adorned with diamonds, emeralds, and many other types of precious stones.

Sant Nivrutti Nath Samadhi Mandir

Location

Sant Nivrutti Nath Samadhi is located at Trimbakeshwar. Saint Nivrutti Nath was the elder brother of great saint Gyandev. Nivrutti Nath was assumed to be the Guru of Gyandev and Nath sect started with Nivrutti Nath.

Legendary stories tell that after the Samadhi of Gyandev, Nivrutti Nath went for a pilgrimage along with his sister and they were caught in natural disasters like thunder storms. He lost his sister during this calamity. Nivrutti Nath attained Samadhi at Trimbakeshwar.

Shree Shivchhatrapati Temple

Location

The Maratha King Chhattrapati Shivaji believed in residing his follower’s hearts. However, his son Rajaram decided to create a temple dedicated to his father. Thus came up the Shri Shivchhatrapati temple on the Sindhudurg in 1695.

The familiar idol of the King has been depicted as in Yogic Veerasan pose. The idol itself has been carved out of black stone and is complete with all the details of the Kings appearance including the legendary beard except maybe the strange headgear that has been presented instead of the familiar conical crown.

Shankar Temple

Location

The route to spiritualism goes through many doors and as we leave the Somaja Devi Temple we encounter the Shankar Temple. This ancient Mahadev (Shankar) Mandir is devoted to Lord Shiva and his Goddess wife Parvati.

The temple bores an ancient look and is believed to be as old as Srivardhan. The royal Bull Nandi guards his master inside by blocking the entrance to the temple. The idols of the Lord, his wife Parvati and Nandi the bull are wonderfully lifelike.
