Matsya and Panchami Tirthas

Location

Matsya, a sacred thirtha, is a place where pilgrims can take bath and absolve themselves from sins of their life. It's located on the river Kumaradhara. Brindavanas of swamis of the Subrahmanya Matha are located in a nearby place called Panchami Tirtha near the Kumara Dhara river.

An attraction near here is the celebrated Somanatha temple, which attracts many devotees to its fold. These two tirthas, Matsya and Panchami, are considered as very holy and it is believed that taking bath in these thirthas assures all the goodness of life.

Hosaligamma Shrine

Location

The Hosaligamma temple, with mother Goddess Hosalingamma as the deity, is placed south of the Subrahmanya temple. This shrine encloses one more deity known as Purusharaya. It is believed that these deities are the bodyguards of Lord Subrahmanya, the main idol in Subrahmanya temple.

Kunkumarchana and Mangalarathi are some of the main offerings in this temple. Hosaligamma and Purusharaya deities are traced back to very ancient times and the Kaumarika Khada of the ‘Skandapurana’ mentions about these two deities. This is a very nice shrine for a secluded visit.

Adi Subhrahmanya

Location

Adi Subrahmanya in Kukke Subrahmanya, a very famous and important religious destination, is a shrine situated near the Subrahmanya temple. The temple with simple tiled roofs houses a group of prehistoric anthills worshipped as Vasuki and Adisesha.

The place is really scenic, placed in the midst of lush green forests and mountain streams. The prasad given to devotees is mrittika (earth) from the anthills, which is assumed to be a good cure for skin diseases.

Balamuri Ganapati Temple

Location

Balamuri Ganapati temple is located just outside the world renowned Kollur Mookambika temple. This small temple is dedicated to Lord Ganesha. The Idol in the sanctum Santorum is beautiful and made out of marble. The prime feature and attraction of this idol is the placement of the trunk. The trunk is placed in the right; usually Ganesha trunk is placed at the left. People offer pujas at this temple with high devotion and belief.

Masti Katte

Location

Masti Katte is a temple dedicated to forest Devatas. Matti Katte is located just close to the welcome arch welcoming to Mookambika township at Kollur- Kundapuram road.

The deities in this temple are placed without any shelters and covers. A local priest offers prayers and rituals at this place. The temple location is best for eye catching views and relaxing moments.

Saraswati Mantap

Location

Saraswati Mantap in Mookambika is a shrine where Maha Saraswathi feature of Devi is worshipped. This temple witnesses huge crowd during the Saraswati Puja festival days during the nine day Navarathri period. People bring their kids at this place to initiate them to the learning. It is believed that the beginning of studies at this place is very auspicious.

Subrahmanya Swamy Temple

Location

Subrahmanya Swami Temple in Mookambika is located at one side of the outer prakaram, the outer regions of the sanctum sanctorum. This temple is dedicated to Lord Muruka, son of Lord Shiva.

It is believed that Subrahmanya Swami himself come down to this place after hearing from Lord Shiva the majestic powers of Devi Shakthi at this temple. Lord Subrahmanya offered prayers to Devi Mahamaya and dedicated his presence for the benefits of the devotees visiting this temple.
