Shuklatirth

Location

Shuklatirth is a small holy village located on the way to Kabirvad. It has many old temples of Mahadevji, Vishnuji and other Hindu deities like Brahma and many goddesses. A temple of Mahadev here claims to solve problems of children who are unable to speak.

Madresa Mosque

Location

Madresa Mosque believed to be built by Mohammad in 1038 AD is one among the oldest mosques in Gujarat. The special feature here is the Persian inscription engraved on wooden plates that date back to 1609AD. The pillars of the mosque and the front door built of black wood are beautifully adorned with elegant engravings that are about 200 to 300 years old.

Bhrigu Rishi Temple

Location

The temple of Bhrigu Rishi, one of the famous and sacred temples of Gujarat, is situated on the east of the city on the banks of the holy river Narmada. This temple, being visited by a number of pilgrims, has great religious importance to the people of Bharuch. Bharuch which was originally called 'Bhrigukachba' derived its name from this temple. The temple was built in honour of the great saint Maharishi Bhrigu who was able to attain sainthood by reaching the perfect balance between wisdom and activity.

Kumbhariya Jain Temples

Location

Group of fascinating Jain temples that dates back to 11th and 13th century, the Kumbhariya group of Jain temples displays amazing structural designs. These temples are dedicated to the five theerthankkaras of the jain religion namely Mahavira, Parshvanath, Neminath Shantinath and Sambhavanath. Legend has it that Mata Ambaji had asked Seth Vimal Shah to erect Jain temples and after its construction he overlooked the holy intervention of the goddess. Being furious about this act of defiance, goddess destroyed the entire temple except the five temples that exist today.

Koteshwar Temple

Location

Koteshwar Mahadev Temple can be fetched in the dense regions, 8 km from Ambaji Temple. Constructed on the originating source of Saraswati River, this ancient temple lets you glimpses of sacred ruins with a holy kund. The river Saraswati flows from a Gomukh (the mouth of a cow) at Koteshwar Mahadev Temple. And, there is a great legend that adds credibility to this awesome place of peace. As per the legend there was aashram of Valmiki Rishi at this spot where Valmiki, the author of Ramayana, composed the holy book of Ramayana.

Kailash Tekari

Location

A beautiful, quondam Shivalaya, Kailash Tekari is located on a high altitude near Ambaji Temple. The temple is frequented by pilgrims and devotees who visit Ambaji Temple as it is too close to the shrine area. The old sanctum sanctorum of Lord Shiva in Kailash Tekari is pleasant experience after a few steps of trek. Watching the sun setting from this place is a nice see. As a recent architectural addition to Mahadev Temple at Kailash Tekari, there is a whole, new artistic stone gate at the temple entrance.

Ambaji Temple

Spectacular in every way, Ambaji shrine dates back to so many centuries and the popular belief is that it was the grace of this goddess helped Rukmini to get Krishna as her husband. It is also believed that the tonsorial ceremony of Lord Krishna took place before the sacred premises of Ambaji mata.
