The ghat is renowned for the legend that is associated with it. It is believed that the ghat is the spot where Lord Krishna fought with a demon known as Keshi which had appeared in the form of a horse and bathed in the river after killing it. The ghat is a major point of convergence for devotees who dip into the river as well as offer tributes in the form of flowers and oil candles. Tourists often embark on the sailboat and cruise along the ghat to take in the view and ambiance of the ghat in the evening.

Kadam tree

Location

A leafy tree stands on a pedestal amidst ancient temples at the banks of the river Yamuna. Though not too different in appearance from the other trees around, it has a special place in the hearts of devotees. This Kadam tree is believed to be the one from which Lord Krishna himself indulged in playful banter and stole clothes belonging to the bathing gopis (cow-herd girls) from his village. Though the story is the stuff of myths, it is well-documented in a number of ancient scripts and as such has gained the faith among devotees.
