Qila House (Jalan House)

Location

Constructed at the site of Sher Shad's fort, it preserves a rich private collection of jade, Chinese paintings and silver filigree work of the Mughal period. The museum can be visited only with prior permission, since it is a private collection.
This houses an interesting museum famous for its jade collection, Chinese paintings and other far eastern work of art, Collected by Diwan Bahadur Radhakrishan Jalan.

Martyrs Memorial

Location

The Martyr’s Memorial is a memorial to seven freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives during the Quit India Movement August 1942. The Martyr's Memorial is a modern sculpture facing the Secretariat, where they were shot in their attempt to host the national flag.
Life-size statues in front of the old secretariat compound have been put up in memory of seven brave young men who faced bullets for the freedom of the country and sacrificed their lives in August 1942 in the historic struggle for India's independence during "Quit India" movement.

Location

Site of the ancient city of Pataliputra, lies 5 km. from Patna Railway Station on the Kankarbagh Road. Excavations here have revealed relics of four continuous periods from 600 BC to 600 AD. The fifth period begins from 1600 AD. An important find is the 80-pillared huge hall of the Mauryan dynasty.

Gol Ghar

Location

Golghar was built by Captain John Garstin as a huge granary for british army in 1786, after famine of 1770. The massive structure is 29 m high and the walls are 3.6 m wide at the base. The winding stairway around this monument offers a brilliant view of the city and the Ganga flowing by.

Nalanda University

Nalanda University

A glittering edifice in the entire history of Indian subcontinent, Nalanda University boast of a rich tradition that had gained accolades from world wide. This renowned institution of the 5th century had been established under the patronage of the Gupta rulers.

Though the University was a Buddhist center of learning, it imparts thorough education to its students on various subjects. Brahmanical subjects, philosophy, grammar, sanskrit, theology, astrology, medicine, mathematics and tantric studies were the main subjects of the curriculum. It is just like the modern residential school pattern where the institution took care of the needs of the students and excavations in Nalanda reveals that the students shared a common mess.

Location

Tillha Kothi,situated close to the University campus is also popularly known as Rabindra Nath Bhavan which was once the residence of Rabindranath Tagore and it was from here parts of the Nobel prize winning "Gitanjali" were written.

Khanqah-e-Shahbazia

Location

Situated at Mulanachak, near the Bhagalpur railway station, it has been an important reli- gious place and seminary of the Muslim community since the Mughal era. A rich library having books on Arabic and Persian theological works is also there at Khanqah-e-Shahbazia. It has a Holy Quran transcribed by Murshid Quli Khan, the Nawab of Murshidabad.
