Kabirvad

Location

Kabirvad is an island on the river Narmada at a distance of about 16km from Bharuch city. The main attraction here is a gigantic banyan tree covering an area of 3.7 acres. According to legend, it is at this place that saint Kabirdas meditated and the treegrew from a meswak stick (used for brushing the teeth) that was thrown here by the saint. Other added attractions here are the lotus shaped marble temple, Kabir museum and boat ride on Narmada river.

Sarkhej Roja

Location

A flamboyant little city on the outskirts of Ahmedabad, Sarkhej Roja boasts of its Mugal era through a cluster of elegant monuments. Most striking facets of this city are the tomb of Sultan Mehmud Begada and a lovely mosque. Sharkhej Roza is a best example for calculated town planning, where the spiritual, imperial and common worlds coexist without crossing the barriers with each other. The mosque, the tombs, the palaces and the common facilities like the pavilions, tanks, platforms feature the religious, royal and social planning of the city.

Kalanaur

Location

Kalanaur, a historical town of Gurdaspur District, is situated towards the west of Gurdaspur at a distance of 25 Kilometres. Akbar the great, the famous Mughal Emperor was coronated at a raised platform, 2 Kilometers east of Kalanaur on 14th February 1556 AD. Since time immemorial, a big Shivratri fair is held every year in the Mahakaleshwar temple on Shivratri day when a large number of devotees gather here to celebrate the festival of Shivratri.

Barath Sahib

Location

Barath Sahib is situated 13 Kilometer west of Pathankot city. The Gurudwara of Barath Sahib is associated with Baba SRI-CHAND, the elder son of Guru Nanak Dev ji, Baba Sri-Chand, the founder of udassi sect was born on Bhadhon 9, Samvat 1551 i.e. 1494 AD in Sultanpur Lodhi.

Malaut

Location

Malaut is a new flourishing mandi and the subdivision located on Bathinda-Hindumalkot railway line. It is 32 km from Fazilka and 47 km from Bathinda. According to the 1991 Census its population was 56,858.

About one-fifth of the entire cotton produced in Punjabis raised within a radious of 32 km from Malaut. The old market being too small to accommodate the heavy arrivals, two new markets have been built. During 1992-93, there were 3 Ginning and Processing units working at Malaut in medium and large-scale sector.
