District Museum Tezpur

Location

The District Museum of Tezpur is an archaeological museum situated at a few km from the city. This museum was established in 1986 and its main collection consists of traditional Assamese textiles. Its exhibit includes items like inscriptions, silver and copper coins, textiles, old bricks, wooden objects, manuscripts and several stone sculptures.

Panipat Museum

Location

The Panipat Museum is the most popular attraction of Panipat, situated at 5 km from the Canal Rest House of Binijhol. This museum was established with the main purpose of imparting information about the three legendary battles of Panipat held in 1526, 1556 and 1761.

It also displays archaeology, history and artefacts of Panipat in the form of antiquities, inscriptions, paintings, sculptures, armoury, pottery, jewellery, art and craft objects, valuable documents, maps, write-ups, and photographs. It also has ceramics of the region of Haryana in the form of clay deposits. Several local religious displays also form a part of Panipat museum.

Kalimpong Arts & Craft Centre

Location

Kalimpong Arts & Craft Centre is located in the heart of the town and was founded in 1897. Established with an objective of promoting and propagating local handicrafts along with providing employment opportunities to locals, this centre was founded by Mrs. Catherine Graham.

This arts & crafts centre is engaged in selling a wide variety of handicrafts including masks, scrolls, jewellery and other artefacts. Moreover, at this centre, carpet weaving, dyeing, painting, leather craft and tailoring are also taught to the local craftsmen and artisans.

Smriti Soudha

Location

Smriti Soudha is one of the most frequented sites in the city of Haldia. The four-storey building, painted with yellow, is positioned on the way to Mechada from Haldia. Founded in 1986, Smriti Soudha is one of the renowned repositories of Kolkata.

Its gallery exhibits a rich collection of photographs, paintings, statues and records dating back to the period of freedom struggle. Besides, the building also features a massive library that houses rare book collection. Smriti Soudha is positioned at Nimtouri, which is easily approachable by road.
