Panipat Museum

Location

The Panipat Museum is the most popular attraction of Panipat, situated at 5 km from the Canal Rest House of Binijhol. This museum was established with the main purpose of imparting information about the three legendary battles of Panipat held in 1526, 1556 and 1761.

It also displays archaeology, history and artefacts of Panipat in the form of antiquities, inscriptions, paintings, sculptures, armoury, pottery, jewellery, art and craft objects, valuable documents, maps, write-ups, and photographs. It also has ceramics of the region of Haryana in the form of clay deposits. Several local religious displays also form a part of Panipat museum.

An attempt has been made by this museum to depict the bravery of a few patriotic heroes, who sacrificed their life in the battles of Panipat. These warriors include Samrat Hem Chandra Vikramaditya, Raja Surja Mal, Vikramaditya, Sher Shah Suri, Sadashiv Rao Bhau, Vishwas Rao Peshwa and Tukuj Shinde. A few important miniatures are also present in the galleries of this museum in the form of enlarged photos of Babur-Nama and Akbar-Nama.
