Semersot Wildlife Sanctuary

Location

About 50 km from Ambikapur, located on the Ambikapur-Daltonganj Road on Ramgarh hills, Semarsot Wildlife Sanctuary is spread over an area of 430 sq km. Nearest airport is Varanasi 315 Km and nearest Railway station is Jainagar near Ambikapur. The area has a border with Bihar state in the east. Tropic of Cancer passes through the area. Tourists’ accommodation is available in the town of Ambikapur. Main species that generally occur are Terminalia alata, Terminalia chebula, Lagerstroemia parviflora, Anogeissus latifolia, Terminalia arjuna Terminalia bellerica, Adina cordfolia, etc.

Kanger Valley National Park

Location

Located on the banks of Kholaba River in Chhattisgarh, at a distance of about 27 km from Jagdalpur, Kanger Valley National Park is one of the most beautiful and picturesque national parks of India spread over an area of approximately 200 sq km. Indravati National Park

Location

Indravati National Park, the most famous wildlife park and the only Tiger Reserve of Chhatisgarh, is located in Dantewada at the distance of 145 km from Jagdalpur in beautiful hill ranges. The main entry point of the park is village Kutrue, situated at the distance of 22 km from Jagdalpur. Famous for its unique and diverse wildlife and bird species, the Park is enriched with the trees of Teak, Lendia, Salai, Mahua, Tendu, Semal, Haldu, Ber and Jamun with patches of excellent grasslands.

Location

Bhiwani Mini Zoo is situated on Bhiwani City Railway Station Road, known as Zoo Road. The Zoo was setup in 1982. With special efforts of Mrs. Kiran Choudhary Hon'ble Minister for forest, zoo was revived by Central Zoo Authority, Delhi in Sept. 2006.

Sultanpur Lake Bird Sanctuary

Location

Sultanpur Lake Bird Sanctuary is located in Gurgaon district, around 15 km away from Gurgaon. Established in 1972 as the Sultanpur Bird Reserve, this place was upgraded to National Park in 1989. Spread over an area of 1.43 sq km, this bird sanctuary is a protected area, which is inhabited by over 250 species of birds.

Birds like common hoopoe, common spoonbill and many others permanently inhabit the bird sanctuary. This sanctuary is also home to spotbill, painted stork, black-headed Ibis and many other rare species.

During winters, several migratory bird species like Siberian crane, yellow wagtail and many species visit this sanctuary. 11 species of migratory birds like Asian koel, Eurasian golden oriole, black-crowned night heron and others can be spotted in summers.

Maenam Wildlife Sanctuary

Location

Maenam Wildlife Sanctuary is one of the most important wildlife sanctuaries in Sikkim situated nearly 25 km from Namchi. The park is a lifeline for Namchi as the sanctuary is the only source of potable water for Namchi throughout the year. The park is rich in both flora and fauna varieties. Three types of forest are found inside the park Moist Temperate Forest, Mixed Broadleaf Forests and Conifer Forests. Species of animals found here are Leopards, Wild dog, Indian Fox, Jackal., Himalayan Black Bear, Wild Boar, Barking Deer, Musk Deer, and Red Panda.

Lady Hydari Park and Zoo

Location

Lady Hydari Park, owes its existence to the erstwhile nature loving first lady of the state, Lady Hydari the wife of Governor of Assam (It used to be a big state). This mini zoo clubbed with a deer park stretches for more than one Kilometer and presents some of the best grown and bred rose beds. The roses and blossoms are of tasteful tones and colours. The park has been very passionately maintained and also provides a special play arena for the tiny tots.
