Lake Naukuchiatal

Location

Prettily placed at an altitude of 3996 feet, Lake Naukuchiatal appears like a delightful panorama of nature. Fringed with lush, verdant trees, the banks of this lovely water body always present an enthralling ambiance. Naukuchiatal literally means nine corners and the locals believe that a single glance of the all the corners would fetch one with Nirvana.

The presence of a strong under water stream makes this lake with full of water in all season. A pictorial place, which houses beautiful Himalayan as well as exotic species of the chirping flock, would definitely mesmerize any body with its charismatic appeal.

Subhash Dhara

Location

A must visit spot in Sat Tal would be Subhash Dhara, a gorgeous freshwater spring that comes from the dense forest of Sat Tal, towards the western region. This is a natural spring that mesmerises people with its crystal clarity and beautiful location.

Jalagamparai Falls

Location

A lovely waterfall about an hour's trek from Yelagiri has been created by the Attaru River, which flows through the Yelagiri hills. It's a very attractive spots for loving couples. The Government Silk Farm is famous for its mulberry plantations. The sericulture tour can provide you immense pleasure as you get a chance to see silk farm from very close.

Punganoor Lake

Location

It is a man made lake which is created artificially so as to enhance the beauty of the place and attract the tourists so as to have better place for the people to visit and keep the life going as several people here rely on it for livelihood as it has been a tourist junction for years together. The periphery of the lake is around 57 sq meters and is a best place for boating and rowing.

Kallanai Dam

Location

Kallanai Dam is one of the oldest irrigation dams in the world built around 2000 years ago. It was built across the river Cauvery by the Chola King, Karikal Valavan.

The main purpose of building Kallanai was to divert the Cauvery water for irrigation in the Tanjavur delta. Kallanai has a strong foundation and solid structure. Due to its stubbornness it is still in excellent condition and is used as a major irrigation dam in Tamilnadu.

Puliyancholai Falls

Location

Puliyancholai is one of the beautiful natural spots located in the foothills of Kollimalai about 72 km from Tiruchirapalli.

Puliyancholai is fully surrounded by verdant greeneries and tamarind groves. Due to its cool climate and its natural stream Puliyancholai draws tourists through out the year. A stream flows across the forest where lots of medicinal herbs grow. Due to this the stream contains medicinal qualities and serves as a natural spa. People from the neighboring districts visit Puliyancholai especially to take bath in the stream water.

Sattanur Dam

Location

The Sathurnur Dam in Thiruvannamalai is a major tourist attraction in this place. It is built across the River Pennar. The dam site houses imposing gardens, beautifully landscaped regions, imposing fountains and many other relaxing and entertaining facilities. The Dam is placed at a picturesque locations and it offers breathtaking views of the surroundings.

Lake District
