Bamuni Hills

Location

It is an important archaeological site famous for its sculptural remains dating back to the 9th century. The ruins of Bamuni hill is famous for its artistic beauty. The sculpture remains which dates back to the 9th and 10th century A.D. now lie in the Cole park and Missionary compound.

Haflong Lake

Location

Haflong Lake is situated in the heart of the hill station it is a picturesque area. Haflong Lake, is one of the two lakes on the only hill station of Assam. This large and beautiful lake adds a celestial beauty to the hill station which is regarded as the 'Scotland of Assam'. Haflong is famous for the Jatinga village, just 9 km away. Boating on the lake and Garampani, a hot-water spring, are captivating to the tourists. The lake, Jatinga and the surroundings offer a haven for hundreds of migratory birds in winter.

Anantasagaram

Location

Anantasagaram is an old reservoir in Anantapur. In fact, the city derived its name from the same tank. Acclaimed as one of the biggest reservoirs in the district, Anantasagaram occupies an area of 2,511 acres in Anantapur and Bukkarayasamudram. A fraction of the tank is known as 'Musalammakatta' and it is said to be named after Musalamma (a lady from Bukkarayasamudram), who sacrificed herself to seal the breach in the tank.

Pochara Waterfalls

Location

Pochera Waterfalls are located at a distance of 48 kms from Adilabad Pochera waterfall was discovered lately. The district of Adilabad is well known as The District of Forests. The splendid Sahayadri Mountain range standing gigantic attract the monsoon clouds creating vulnerable climate throughout and nurtures the wide and variant flora of the forests.

Kuntala Waterfalls

Location

Kuntala Waterfall, Highest waterfall of Andhra Pradesh, set amidst the Sahayadri mountain range in Andhra Pradesh, presents a wonderful vista with its gushing waters. Identified as the highest waterfalls of the state, the cascade attracts visitors from far and wide. At a distance of about 40 kms from Adilabad city, the fall is to be found near Neredikonda Village in Adilabad district. Kuntala Waterfalls appear as a pleasant surprise, accessible through the twirling roads passing from dense forests.

Kardo Hills

Location

A Nepali worker was felling a tree down in a forest near Hapoli (Ziro). When the tree was falling down, it changed its direction in the mid-air. The worker was dumbstruck! He explored the site where the tree was originally expected to land. A stone was sticking out of the soil at the site. He dug the soil and discovered that it was no ordinary stone but a magnificent Shiva Linga! That was how the little known Kardo Hill has shot to fame in the recent years.
The Shiva Linga in the Kardo Hills is said to be the tallest one in the world. The place is located some 4 km from Hapoli.

Sela Pass

Location

Sela Pass, with a height of 13,714 ft, is one of the most visited places in entire Arunachal Pradesh. Considered to be heaven on earth, the Sela Mountain Pass in winter is entirely covered with snow. Before reaching this pass, the travellers are welcomed by another lake, which is known as the Paradise Lake.

Nunneries of Tawang

Location

Beautiful Buddhist Nunneries dot the landscape of Tawang town. These Nunneries are called 'Ani Gompa'. Brama dung - chung Ani Gompa is one of the oldest nunnery in Tawang. It is situated 12 km from the town. It is a home to around 45 nuns and was built by Karchen Yeshi Gelek in 1595. Another wonderful nunnery near the town is Gyangong Ani Gompa which shelters around 50 nuns. Perched on a hill top, this nunnery was established by Mere Lam Lodre Gyamtso and he gifted it to his sister. Tawang Monastery controls the function of this nunnery.
