NTR Memorial Gardens

Location

NTR Memorial Gardens are the latest and exciting attractions of Hyderabad. It is situated at Hussain Sagar Lake. It has been built on behalf of the late Shri N T Rama Rao, who was one of the most attractive and extraordinary chief ministers of Andhra Pradesh.

The NTR Gardens has been set up in an area of about 36 acres. The gardens provide a calm atmosphere and up to the present time the garden also provide recreation facilities like boat ride, car cafe, children's playing area, eat out joints, fruit restaurant (the 2000-square-metre restaurant is circumvented by three petal-shaped ponds), Japanese garden, machan tree, souvenir shops, and so on. A railway having a single track takes the guests all around the gardens.

Lotus Pond

Location

Lotus Pond is a modest water body located on Banjara Hills in Hyderabad. The pond is enclosed by luxuriant green flora; the pond is about 1.2 km diameter. This pond is the home of about 20 species of birds. Some of the birds of this pond are common coot, common moorhen, little egret, little grebe, pied kingfisher, sunbirds, and white wagtail. The pond is being kept in good condition by the Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad.

The pond was believed to be an eco-preservation project contributing natural components into the concept of this project without troubling the ecosystem and preserving the natural rocks and the pond. The construction of the project was launched on 20 November, 1999. The project was finished in the year 2001.

Hussain Sagar Lake

Location

Hussain Sagar Lake was built in 1562 by Hazrat Hussain Shah Wali, during the reign of Ibrahim Quli Qutb Shah. The lake was built on a tributary of Musi River and is located in the midst of Hyderabad city. The main Tank Bund links Hyderabad and Secunderabad, which are famously called the twin cities.

Himayat Sagar Lake

Location

The relatively small Himayat Sagar Lake is located nearly 20 kilometers from Hyderabad. This lake was also built on Musi River. The lake was named after Himayat Ali Khan, the youngest son of Nizam VII. The grassy area which is adjoining the lake serves as an ideal picnic place.

The road atop this lake’s bund is a good road for a lovely drive. Visitors can book cottages of the tourist complex of Andhra Pradesh Tourism through Andhra Pradesh Travel and Tourism Development Corporation. A serene combo of clean air, lush green area and sparkling water makes this place a must see.

Nagarjuna Sagar Dam

Location

Nagarjuna Sagar Dam is certainly the pride of India, since it is the tallest masonry dam in the world. This colossal dam supplies water for irrigation purposes to the districts like Nalgonda, Prakasam, Khammam and Guntur in Andhra Pradesh. Named after the Buddhist monk 'Nagarjuna', the dam actually separates the Guntur and Nalgonda districts. Owing to its confounding height of 124 meters, Nagarjunasagar Dam can store up to 11, 472 million cubic meters in its reservoir.

Garampani

Location

Garampani is a hot water spring near Umrangso. It is believed that the water of this spring has medicinal properties. Boating amidst the serene waters of the lake and the picturesque scene visible from the hilltop are enough to magnetize its visitors.
