Garbhagriha

Location

The Garbhagriha or the sanctum sanctorum is naturally dark, but the idol, exquisitely cast in bronze, emits a soft, ethereal glow. It depicts the goddess Mahishasurmardini also called Mata Hateshwari, eight-armed and riding a lion as she drives her spear through the heart of the demon Mahishasura. On either side of the image, there is an inscription in a variation of the Brahmini script that no one has been able to decipher so far.

War Memorial

Location

War Memorial is adorning the entrance to the great old holy city of Dharamsala. Memorial is placed in a perfect place of peace, amidst the lush green pine trees to pay tribute to Great War heroes from Himachal Pradesh in the Post Independence Era. The war memorial is beautifully decorated and attractive with greenish lawns and artistic landscaping.

This is a revered location to place the patriotic feelings of the visitor to the memory of the great sacrifices.

Chaugan

Location

A grassy maidan 1 km long and 75 m wide, Chaugan is the centre of all activities in Chamba. Chaugan is the focal point of all cultural and social activities in Chamba and is also the main market place selling a variety of products ranging from traditional silver jewellery to footwear. The annual Minjar Mela in Chamba, a week long fair, is held at Chaugan.

Cricket Ground

Location

Amidst of the dense forests of pine and deodars, Chail cricket ground has the spectacular distinction of the world’s highest ever cricket pitch, at an altitude of nearly 2,144 meters above the sea level. This cricket ground is well maintained and is constructed by the Maharaja of Patiala more than 200 years back in 1893. It is also used as a polo ground.

It is established in the cantonment area of army and hence it is as such is out of bounds to common tourists and locals. The place is very cool and picturesque.

Deoli

Asia's biggest mirror carp hatchery is situated here, at a distance of 13-km from the town. Kandror Bridge: While the town is situated on the lake created by the highest bridge in India, Kindror Bridge is the second highest bridge in the world and is 22-km from Bilaspur.
