Panch Pandav

Location

On the left side is the photograph of one of the rest houses in Khajjiar. This one is special because the tree near the rest house is of a very different kind. It is called the "Panch Pandav" (Five Pandavs). Though the main root is the same but the base of the tree is divided into five parts, which make it one of the kind. It is also one of the main attractions when you begin to explore the Khajjiar ground on your feet. Near this rest house is the way leading to a small village and Khajjiar School.

Kailash View

Location

On a clear day, you can see the Mountain Kailash from Khajjiar ground. You can also enjoy the horse riding here. Some local people are engaged in this business and you can ride the whole Khajjiar ground (from outside) for a nominal charge. The riding is very enjoyable, also the horses are well trained and do not scare you away.

Railway Track

Location

Jogindernagar is well connected with a narrow gauge railway line. Rail Head of one of the world's still playing narrow Gauge train. This railway track is one of the oldest in India and was built in 3 rd decade of 20 th century when Shanan Power House was to be constructed. There was a steam engine which has been replaced by diesel engine. Jogindernagar-Pathankot is the longest railway line track of Himachal Pradesh.

Shanan Power House

Location

Jogindernagar is the only city in Asia continent having three Power houses simultaneously. The vision of the hydel project scheme was to construct 5 power stations using the same water that is drawn from the Uhl River . Shanan Power House of Jogindernagar is the oldest Hydro-electric power house of India and one of the oldest powerhouses of the world. This power house was built by Col. Batty, an English engineer and his team. Most of the credit of creation of Jogindernagar and to make it a popular town goes to him.

Haulage Way System

Location

Here is a haulage way system in Jogindernagar which is perhaps its only kind of track in the world. There are different haulage way stations in this particular transportation system starting from Buffer stop (4150 feet). Next is Adit Junction set at an altitude of 6000 feet is locally called as 18 number as it is imprinted over there. The water rushes down from the reservoir at Barot in the Uhl river through penstock pipes going down nearly a thousand meters (3280 feet). The loading capacity of haulage way cars are 15, 10, 5 tons. Higher the capacity, lower the speed.

Khara Patther

Location

Khara Pathar at 8700 feet is so named after a free standing round boulder which overlooks the valley floor. The boulder over years has worn a smooth look due to forces of nature. This village has a very good view of peaks and valleys and is also being developed as a tourist attraction as a skiing spot.

Charoo

Location

Charoo, which means a large bronze vessel, stands battered with age on one side of the mandap of the Mahishasurmardini temple securely chained to an image of Ganesha positioned inside the temple.
