Narasimha Konda

Location

Vedagiri Lakshmimarasimha Swamy devastanam came into being nearly 500 years ago, on the summit of Narasimhakonad. According to the rock inscriptions, this temple was built by the Pallava king Narsimha Varma in the ninth century. Legend goes that the sage Kasyapa established the temple on the bank of Pinakini. And the vedic scripture [Brahma Purana]]reveals that the seven sages (Saptarishis) performed “yagnam” (Sacrifice) on the top of Narasimhakonda. The seven (Koneru) tanks were renovated with Mandapas on the hilltop .

Maha Ganapathi Temple

Jonnawada

Location

Jonnawada is a famous pilgrim centre, located about 15 km from Nellore. It has one of the only two Kamakshi Devi temples in the world. Built in 1150, this temple complex has shrines of Sri Mallikarjuna Swamy and Goddess Kamakshamma. Every year, a 10-day festival is celebrated here with full gusto and fervor.

Lakshmivenkatesvara Temple

Location

Sri Venkateswara Temple, also called Lakshmivenkatesvara temple is located at the heart of the Mantralayam Mutt complex. The temple enshrines a lovely stone idol of Sri Venkateswara. It is believed that the idol was installed by Sri Raghavendra Swamy himself. Sri Raghavendra Swamy was offering worship to this idol everyday. This temple is a prime attraction in the Mutt complex.

Nearby temple attractions include Manchalmma Temple, located on the left corner of the complex. The temple Goddess Manchalamma is believed to be the presiding deity of the Mantralayam.

Yaganti

Location

Yaganti is well-known for the temple of Uma Maheshwar, built in the 15 th century, which has a magnificent Gopura at the entrance and a pond surrounded by animated friezes of court and mythological scenes carved on stone. Other places of interest include a huge Nandiswara; Agasthya Pushkarini; and scenic natural caves. In the vicinity are the Garimi Reddy Gari Achchamma Mutt; Kasaiah Thota; Kotturi Subramanya Swamy Temple; Nandavaram Chandeswari Devi Temple; and Ravvalakonda. Located 90 Kms from Kurnool, it is well connected by frequently plying buses.
