Sarangapur

Location

About 8 km from Nizamabad, Sarangapur is renowned for a Hanuman Temple. It is believed that foundation of the shrine was laid by Saint Samartha Ramadas, who was the Guru of Chatrapati Shivaji in the 16th century. Apart from the temple, the Tourism Department has developed parks and hotels, facilitating tourists and pilgrims.

Kanteshwar

Location

There is a locality by the name of Kanteshwar in Nizamabad. It is known for a temple that is approximately 500 years old. Dedicated to Lord Shiva (Neela Kanteshwar), this temple boasts of splendid architecture. It was built by the Satavahana king, Satakarni-II. Rathasapthami festival is observed here with grand celebrations.

Sri Venkateswara Swamy Devasthanam

Location

Sri Venkateswara Swamy Devasthanam. Venkannapuram, Kodavlur mandal: A recently built temple with Lord Sri Venkateswara Samy ,Goddess Sri Padmavati Ammavaru, and Lord SriKrishna in a small village called Venkannapuram in Kodavalur is attracting a large number of devotees. The temple is located at a distance of 16 km (9.9 mi) from Nellore town. Established on the traditions of Tirumala Sri Venkateswara swamy temple the rituals like Abhishekam on every Friday is very popular pooja in this temple.

Sri Mulasthaneswara Swamy Temple

Location

The Temple of Sri Mulasthaneswara Swamy was built, 1400 years ago, to the west of Nellore. As the Lord manifested Himself under a “Nelli” tree, a temple was built there itself. Manumasidhi rulers constructed the “Raja Gopuram” (Royal tower of the temple). Legend goes that the poet Tikkana Somayaji translated Mahabhratam into telugu only after making his obeisance to the deity.

Sri Gayathri devi Vishwakarma Temple

Ranganatha Temple

Location

Located on the banks of Pennar River, Ranganatha Temple is the most popular and most visited temple of Nellore. The main entrance of the temple is 29 meters high and has seven gold 'Kalasams' (pots). Addalamandapam (mirror hall) presents the most picturesque sight with its high-definition of mirrors. It also houses the seat of the Lord. Over 600 years old, Ranganatha Temple observes an annual festival of Rath Yatra (chariot festival) every year.

Prabhagiri Patnam

Location

The ruins of Prabhagiripatnam lie on the Podalakuru Mohammadapuram at a distance of 45 km. away from Nellore. The ruins of the temple of Lord Siva and Perumallaswamy, which belonged to 1512A.D., remind the tourists of their former glory and excellence. An inscription denoting the royal gift(1512AD) of the Vijayanagara king Venkataryalu, is gathering dust at a place close to the temple of Perumallaswamy. This inscription enjoins that the income derived from the agricultural lands of the neighborhood should be spent for the upkeep of the temple.

Penchalakona

Location

Penchalakona, a valley sited about 10 km from Nellore, is famous for embracing Narasimha Swamy Temple. The place is known for its scenic landscape and pleasant weather. Perched on top of the Veda Giri (Hill), the temple is considered to have been erected over the place where Lord Venkateswara had kept his holy feet.
