Ramappa Temple

Location

Ramappa Temple, constructed in the architectural style of South India during the Kaktiya rule in the 12th century, is a grand old temple dedicated to Lord Shiva in Palampet not far way from Warangal. This temple is revered very much by the Hindu community and is assumed to be the great contribution of the Kakatiya Kings.

Padmakshi Temple

Location

Padmakshi temple, an ancient temple believed to be built during first quarter of the 12th century, is a beautiful temple at Warangal with Goddess Padmakshi as the main deity. A wonderful pillar known as Annakonda Pillar, a stunning quadrangular column made with granite black stone, is placed at the entrance of this temple.

Jain Temple

Location

With over 2000 years of history behind it, Jain temple is among the oldest temples in Warangal. The temple is dedicated to Lord Mahaveera. The most interesting attraction of the temple is a 5 ft high image of Lord Mahaveera which is completely carved out of Jade. There are numerous images of exceptional tirthankaras all around the temple.

Govindarajula Gutta

Location

This is a marvelous Hindu religious place situated near to Warangal in a hilly region. Govindarajula Gutta is a beautiful small village with picturesque surroundings in the backdrop of greenish forests and hilly terrains have credited with the home of a a temple for Lord Vishnu. Many devotees visit this temple to offer their prayers and it is believed that the deity has superficial powers to bless the believers. A steep stairway leads the visitors to this temple. One can view the magnificent panoramic view of the Warangal city from the premises of this temple.

Bhadrakali Temple

Location

Bhadrakali Temple, eighth century old temple built by Kakatiya dynasty, is perfectly placed on a holy mount nearby Warangal city. The temple enshrines the Goddess Kali, the mother Goddess in Hindu mythology, adorned with weapons in all the eight arms and the statue of the Goddess is in the sitting posture with a crown in her head. The structure of the temple is in the amazing architectural style of Chalukya’s.

It is a good religious place to visit and all tourists visit Warangal make it a point to reach this holy temple in the lap of mother Goddess to have the blessings.

Ross Hill

Location

Ross Hills, an erstwhile Roman Catholic Church known as ‘Our lady of the Sacred Heart’, is the peak mount in Visakhapatnam. Ross hill Presently Mother Mary's Church, built in 1864 after the name of Monsieur Ross, is a unique place to see the panoramic view of the surrounding shipbuilding yard and the Visakhapatnam Port. To add the value for the place, a temple in Sri Venkateswara Konda and a mosque attached to the tomb of the Muslim saint, Sayed Ali Medina alias Ishak Medina are also available nearby.

Appikonda

Location

18 kilometers from Visakhapatnam, Appikonda is also known as Kapilakonda. It has a Siva temple with a life size bull carved out of black stone. The temple contains inscriptions of the 12th Century AD, with a mention that this village was granted by a commander-in-chief of the Cholas for the maintenance of worship in the temple.

Sri Venkateswara Konda

Location

Lord Venkateshwara abode the place Sri Venkateswara Konda in Visakhapatnam, also known as the hill on the south. The main attraction is a temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu (Venkateshwara). An impressive pyramidal gopura at the entrance welcomes the visitors to this abode of Vishnu.

Sri Venkateswara Konda gives a majestic view of the port channel, which is the gateway of the interior harbour for ships and liners at Visakhapatnam Port.

Darga Konda

Location

Dargakonda, gateway to the Visakhapatnam harbour, is a sacred place at Visakhapatnam. It is the northern of the three hills at the entrance to the harbour. The mosque of Baba Ishaq Madina, a highly respected Muslim saint, placed in this hill is highly revered. Sri Venkateswara Konda and Ross Hill are the other two hills make the triplet.

It is believed that the saint Baba has miraculous powers of prophecy. The Darga Konda is frequently visited by faithful devotees from both Hindus and Muslims.

Mangalagiri

Location

The Mangalagiri 13 km south of Vijayawada is famous for the renowned temple Lakshmi Narasimha, one of the Nine incarnations of Vishnu. This temple built by the Reddi Chiefs in the 14C on a hillock was remodelled in the 17C to 18C. The devotees believe that the deity accepts only half the quantity of 'Panaka' (jaggery dissolved in water) offered by devotees. There is a small Garuda Shrine in front resembling a chariot.
