Sewaro Rock Garden

Location

Sewaro Rock Garden is constructed and maintained by Sikkim's tourism department. Mainly constituting rocks, gardens, pools, zig zag foot paths and various recreational amenities like swimming pools, viewpoints and cafeterias. Considered as one of the most popular picnic spots it is visited by people from various communities and schools every day.

Jawaharlal Nehru Botanical Garden

Location

Jawaharlal Nehru Botanical Garden, established in 1987, is home to different varieties of botanical species. Located near Rumtek Monastery, this garden houses rare flowers, plants and trees including Orchids of Himalayan region. Maintained and managed by the Forest Department of the Government of Sikkim, this garden also includes dense temperate forests of Oak. There are more than 50 different varieties of tree species located inside this garden.

Saramsa Garden

Location

Saramsa Garden, located at a distance of approximately 14 km from Gangtok, was established in 1922. The place was opened by the Forest Department, which was managed by the Forest Manager, Bhim Bahadur Pradhan from 1922 to 1954. Besides being the forester, owing to immense interest in botany, floriculture and horticulture, he was able to manage the garden well.

Deul Park

Location

Deul Park is located close to the city of Durgapur and is a very popular to spend a leisure time . It is located on the banks of the River Ajoy and comprises many water rides. A visit to the 800 years old Ichai Temple is the highlight of visiting this place. Tourists can enjoy great dining experience here. Also, boating facilities are available in the lake and so is ideal for a picnic too.

Deer Park

Location

Sarnath got its name from Saranganatha (God of Deer). The deer park is the place where the Buddha first proclaimed the Dharma to the world. He taught his disciples two discourses here - the Dhammacakkhapavathana Sutta and the Anattalakhana Sutta.
