Sikander Bagh

Location

This was the summer house of Nawab Wajid Ali Shah. Situated in the Sikander Bagh Gardens, gets its name from Begum Sikander Mahal who was the favorite wife of the Nawab. It was 120 square yards in area surrounded by a high wall, with a summer house in its centre. The garden now houses the National Botanical Research Institute of India.

Gautam Buddha Park

Location

Phool Bagh

Location

Located at the center of the city at Mall Road, this ancient park also houses the Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi Memorial Hall or the K.E.M hall and Ganesh Udyan building. Ganesh Udyan was previously the orthopedic hospital set up after the First World War.

Nana Rao Park

Location

The history of Nana Rao Park dates back to the first war of the independence period, fought in 1857. This park was named after Nana Rao Peshwa who fought like a brave warrior in the struggle for independence. The tragic incident of the bibighar massacre of Kanpur took place in this park.

The park is very well maintained and beautifully laid out, and appeals to all those visiting it. The trees, flowers in full bloom and a nice plant nursery fill up the atmosphere with a refreshing aura. Apart from the flora, a few fountains spread out here and there add to the beauty of the park.

Ramkatha Park

Location

A place like Ayodhya, its shrines, ghats and historical places are frequently visited by numerous pilgrims and visitors. The strain on these locations is visible. Add regular festivals and celebrations at these places and the necessity of a special place for these activities becomes urgent. The Rankatha park was constructed with a similar intent of providing a large open air theater for the budding artists, cultural festival organizers and public gatherings.

Company Gardens

Location

Adjoining Guptar Ghat, on the banks of River Saryu, is Company Gardens, a botanical garden built during British Rule. it has a well maintained, sprawling garden set amidst lush greenery, far away from the hustle and bustle of the town. It also has an orchard spread over acres. Plants and Trees can also be bought here. The remains of the fort built by Nawab Shuja-ud-Daula after the battle of Buxar is also within walking distance.

Brindavan Gardens

Location

Brindavan Gardens is one of the most beautiful gardens in Mysore and a center of tourist attraction. This garden was constructed during the period of Krishnaraja Wodeyar. It is built across the Cauvery river and below the Krishnarajasagar dam.

The garden is decorated with huge lawns and various kaleidoscopical courses of flowers. The main attractive feature of the garden is the ‘dancing fountain’.

The garden can be visited at any time from 7 am to 8 pm on all days. The lighting of the garden during Dussehra is done every day and on other days from 7 pm to 8.45 pm.
