Jai Vilas Palace (Raj Bari)

Location

The Jai Vilas Palace, also known as Raj Bari, was the residential palace of kings of Munke family. The palace is firmly placed at the mount of a rock so that the king can view his kingdom form the top. The domes of the palace are highly attractive and the palace itself is located in the midst of Lusting green sceneries offered by the thick forests around.

This is the famous tourist attraction in Jawahar and presently the palace is renowned for film shootings. The Palace displays the culture and the life style of tribal kings in the erstwhile Munke family.

Shirpamal

Location

5 km from Sunset Point, Shirpamal is a 300 year old gateway set up to watch the enemy from a distance. Situated on top of the highest hill in the region, this structure was constructed by Chhatrapati Shivaji. Today getting up here provides an aerial and panoramic view of the valley below.

The Shirpamal, a structure created at the top of a hill, built by the great emperor of the Maratha kingdom Chathrapathi Shivaji and is dating back 3 centuries ago. This is located at the pinnacle of the highest hill so that the royal people can watch the movement of enemies and also to have the great view of the kingdom.

Tringalwadi Fort

Location

A small path at the base of a mountain adjoining Igatpuri leads to the fort which till date stands in good condition. The fort is 3000 feet high and even today the steps and walls of the fort are strong. Behind the fort on the edge of the mountain is a Hanuman temple. The secret path of the fort is worth exploring.

The panaromic view from the top of the fort is amazing. The mountain range from Mount Kalsubai to Mount Kumpan can be seen in a row. Peaks of the mountains Utvad and Harihar can also be spotted. From the eastern side of the fort one can see the picturesque lake in the valley below.

Drona Sagar - Girital and Drona Sagar are well known spots and are associated with the story of the Pandevas. The Chaiti Mela is the best known fair of Kashipur. Today Kashipur is an important industrial township. In autumn (after monsoon) one can see the snow clad peaks of Trishul and its surrounding.

Chauthi Jaali

Location

Chauthi Jaali, also known as Chauli ka Jali, is situated adjacent to the Mukteshwar temple in the hilltop of the calm and seclude city of Mukteshwar. as per mythology, it is believed that a Demon and a Goddess fought a battle in this place, and there are faint outlines of a sword, a shield and a trunk of an elephant which stands as the testament of the battle.

Vanasur ka kila

Location

Vanasur ka kila 25 km from Abbott Mount via LohaghatIn this journey, nearly 2 km has to be travelled by foot to arrive at Vanasur ka Kila. This place, which is considered to be demon Vanasur’s capital that Lord Krishna defeated in a battle.

The names of Shonitpur and Lohawati are linked with the myth about the assassination of Vanasur at this place. The fort seems to be a construction belonging to the middle ages, but the story of Vanasur was probably associated with the spot even before the construction of the fort. Lohawati River originates near this place.

Muthu Mandapam

Location

Muthu Mandapam is also called the 'Pearl Palace'. This is a memorial, which is built around the tombstone of the last Kandy Tamil ruler, Vikramraja Singh. It is situated just steps away from Vellore town towards north and is built on the bed of River Palar. The memorial is on a major alteration plan and is said that it will be added with a Children park, an aquarium and a lot more.
