Beni Sagar Dam

Location

Beni Sagar Dam: Situated within the outskirts of Khajuraho city, Beni Sagar Dam is a fast emerging picnic spot in the locality. Built across the majestic Khudar River, this dam offers lovely water spread of 7.7 square kilometer, which provides excellent opportunities of great fun.

Bamni Dadar

Location

Bamni Dadar is one of the famous sunset points. Tourists visit to get the picturesque view of the setting sun. Also known as Sunset Point, this is one of the most beautiful areas at Kanha, from where a spectacular sunset can be watched. The dense forest of the park can best be seen from here. Animals that can be sighted around this point are sambar, barking deer, gaur and the four-horned antelope.

Upper Lake

Location

A beautiful water body of the 11th century, Upper Lake is the oldest man-made lake in India. Locally called as Bada Talab, it is a massive earthen bund constructed across the Kolans River. Legend says that King Bhoj constructed this gigantic lake, which is believed to have cured his skin disease.

Lower Lake

Location

A beautiful remnant of the great Mugal Empire, Lower Lake in Bhopal is situated in the serene surroundings of majestic hills and the massive upper lake. The Lower Lake, which is also called as the Chota Talaab, is separated from the Upper Lake by an over-bridge.

Hemmed by the magnificient Kamala garden, the Lower Lake presents aesthetic appearance. Exciting trips by sail, paddle and motorboats over the Lower Lake is fascinating attractions for adventure lovers.

Cyclopean Dam

Location

Considered to be a marvel during olden times, the great dam now lay in ruins on the western side of Bhojpur. The dam was built on a vast lake which is no more there. Huge hills enclosed the entire area from all sides, but two big gaps were there that were blocked by different dams. The earthen dams were huge with the bigger one being 44 feet high and 300 feet thick and the smaller one being 24 feet high and 100 feet wide. The construction of the dams was done without using mortar. The dams held up water of about 250 square miles. Few believe that the dams were built by Raja Bhoj, but they were probably built before his time.

Marble Rocks

Location

The perpendicular magnesium limestone rocks fringe the crystal clear placid waters of the Narmada providing a fascinating site. Boating facilities are available between November - May. Boating on a moonlit night, when the whole stretch of water is transformed into a sheet of liquid silver is absolutely magical. In the narrow channel of the mighty river, there is a place approached so closely from the opposite banks that the local people have aptly named it the "Monkey's leap" (Bundar Kundi).

Bandhavgarh Hill

Location

Bandhavgarh hill is the highest hill in the reserve of Bandhavgarh with an altitude of 807 meters above the sea level. A group of many small hills, 32 in numbers, surround this hill. These small hills together with Bandhavgarh hill forms a number of low lying plains and valleys. The hill is formed by the sandstones and the water permeates from these hills are the sources of many streams and springs in the region.

The hill is the specimen of picturesque natural beauty and the cool climate over the hilly terrains make it a hill station for the enthusiast tourists. The top of the hill is flat and some portions are marshy land as well. The green vegetation is dense in the downhill and as it goes up from the downhill, the flora reduces.

Sonmuda

Location

Sonemuda, origin of Sone RiverSonemuda is the place of origin of Sone River. Enjoy the panorama of forested hills and valleys. Sonemuda is the place of origin of Sone River. It is situated at a distance of 1.5 km from Narmadakund at the very edge of Maikal Mountain. The Sone River cascades from the mountain in a waterfall hundreds of feet long. From the viewing platform facing east, there is a panorama of forested hills and valleys. According to Megasthanes and other Aryan writers the river Sone gets its name from gold as gold dust is found in the water of Sone.
