Pumlen

Location

Pumlen, a freshwater lake, is popularly known as the Pumlen Pat and covers an area of around 19 sq. km. It is covered by phumdis, a large heterogeneous floating soil vegetation mat.

Ango Ching

Location

Ango Ching is spread over an area of 150 sq km and is situated near the Sanalok (Chamu) River and the Kachouphung Lake. This place is located east of the city of Ukhrul. The virgin forest of this region is home to leopards, wild cats, black bears, sambar, elephants and tigers. Birds like peacock, tragopan and horn bill can also be spotted here.

Kachouphung Lake

Location

The Kachouphung Lake is around 7 km away from the Khayang Falls, on the Achuwa Magi Hills. The lake is surrounded by several knolls and covers a land of about nine acres. Pisciculture is practised at this lake, due to the presence of local colourful fish and common carp.

Firmbase

Firmbase is a former army camp site, which is situated at the confluence of Namdapha and Dihing rivers. Tourists visiting the site can spot sambar in the extensive grasslands. White-bellied herons, wild dogs, small cats, bears and even tigers can be spotted at this site.

Rani Jheel

Rani Jheel is a popular birdwatching spot, where tourists can spot white-winged wood duck occasionally. Surrounded by evergreen forests, the lake is ideal site for spotting gibbons. It is also a campsite, where tourists can camp for overnight stay. A walk from Hornbill will take 4 to 5 hrs to reach the destination.
