The famous Ziarat of Sain Illahi Bakhsh Sahib is located in village Battalkote in Mandi block of Poonch district. This place is 37 kms.on the north of Poonch town and about 4 kms. from Loran. Battalkote is the last inhabited but most beautiful and attractive village and is located in between the southern hills of Peer Panchal range and confluence of streams Nain Sukh and Nandishool. The shrine is located in the heart of village on the sloppy land and grassy ridge. This sacred place is surrounded by snow capped peaks, thick belt of forests, beautiful maize fields and crystal clear streams. The scenic beauty and geography of this place resembles with Gulmarg of Kashmir. A great Soofi Saint, Sain Illahi Bakhsh Sahib, had selected this place keeping in view its natural beauty.
During December on 2nd day of Pooh a one day annual Urs is celebrated at the premises of the shrine of the muslim Saint Pir Fazal Shah at Gundi village in Surankote. Thousands of people from far and near villages gather at this place on Urs with traditional beating of drums and celebrate it.
Three day annual Urs is celebrated at Sakhi Maidan about 5 kms from Mendhar in the memory of Muslims Saint Sakhi Peer Chhota Shah whose Ziarat is located there and is held in high esteem by Hindus & Muslims alike in the area. Barely few hundred yards from Ziarat lies the ruins of ancient architecture popularly believed to be of the Pandvas.
Sapphire Mines Of Paddar: Situated 115-km beyond Kishtwar at an altitude of over 4,000 metres, are the blue sapphire mines of Paddar. There is a road leading up to this area from Kishtwar. Sapphire mines were only discovered in the 1880s and have been worked only intermittently since this time because of the difficult terrain and unscientific mining techniques. Now the mines are open regularly and are more productive.
The wonderful attraction in Gulmarg is the Cable Car from Gulamrg to Kongdoor and is known as Gondola Lift. Jamuu and Kashmir State Cable Car Corporations manage the Cable Car to Kongdoor. Moving over the hilly peaks by watching the pristine beauty of the Mother earth is really a wonderful experience in the Gondola lift.
Golf is the best attractive sports in Gulmarg. Gulmarg Golf Club, established 1911, was a summer resort for the British and they started paying Gold in the vast expanse of majestic greenish grounds of the Club. This has been credited as the highest green golf course all over the country.
At the end of the cricket pitch is a church where the founder of Abbott Mount, John Abbott is buried. A memorial has been erected in his honor here.
Howrah Railway station is considered among the largest railway platforms in the world. The huge crowd, the facilities, and the olden day charm, all add up to make this truly a wonderful destination to visit. Started in the year 1854, the first train that departed from here was to Pandua the very same year. It is the first railway station to have started operating in East India. Today, it caters to all major cities in India. The station is divided into different sections, one is the old terminal from where trains to states further east and south east. The other is the new terminal from where trains to all other parts of India leave. Fro travelers, there is a government run lodge as well inside the station premises that promises to offer good facilities to its guests.
