Mata Tripureshwari Temple

Location

Mata Tripureshwari Temple,an important pilgrimage center is situated at a distance of 58 km from Agaratala. It houses the statue of Goddess Kali. The Chaturdas Devta Bari Temple,located at 14 km from Agartala is famous for the tribal festival of Karachi held in the month of July annually. Maa Bhubaneshwari Temple is located at right banks of the Gomti River by Maharaja Govinda Manikya that was built in the 17th century. Other important temples of Agartala are Lakshmi Narayan temple,Jagannath temple,Uma Maheshwari temple,and Durga temple.

Kamalasagar Kali Temple

Location

The rich heritage of Tripura vividly reflects in its temples like Kamlasagar Kali. Besides being a known temple, Kamalasagar Kali Temple also attracts tourists because of its natural beauty. It is also know as Kasba Kali Bari temple. It is located on a hillock overlooking a beautiful lake named Kamala Sagar. The lake at the border of Bangladesh offers wonderful views of its surroundings and is often flocked by the local people for picnic. This huge lake was made by Maharaja Dhanya Manikya Bahadur in the late 15th century.

Jagannath Temple

Location

The city of Agartala was chosen above Udaipur as the capital by the Manikyas. The Manikyas preferred to decorate the city and adorned it with specially created monuments and beauty spots. The jagganath Dighi lake is one such ornamental lake specially created. The shores of this pond play host to the Jagannath temple. The idol of Neelmadhav/ Lord Jagannath at Puri is believed to have been donated from this temple. The temple overlooking the Jagannath dighi lake shows heavy inclination towards Islamic style of architecture and design.

Fourteen Goddess Temple

Location

It is located about 14 Km. away from Agartala at a place called Old Agartala. In the face of continued fight with Shamser Gazi, Maharaja Krishna Manikya had shifted the capital from Udaipur to Old Agartala. It continued to be the capital till it was shifted to Agartala. Near the sacred 14 goddess temple during the month of July every year a Kharchi festival is organised and thousands of pilgrims and devotees visit this festival.

It is a local saying that one who visits Tripura Fourteen Goddess Temple once comes in Agartala fourteen times more .

Buddha Temple

Location

The Buddha Temple popularly known as the Buddha Mandir is located at the heart of the city. The temple is one of the important religious center and provides ample evidence regarding the influence of Buddhism on the populace. The shrine houses two beautiful idols of Buddha and Bodhisattva. The peaceful and serene idols are believed to have a Burmese origin. Shifted from the Royal palace, the idols adopted their new home, the Buddha Temple constructed in 1946.

Agartala Baptist Church

Location

Agartala Baptist Church is a Baptist Church in the city of Agartala, the capital of Tripura state in India. It is affiliated to the Tripura Baptist Christian Union and is located in Arundhutinagar in the southern part of Agartala city. It is the oldest church in Agartala and was established in the 1930s.
It is located inside the Baptist Mission Compound in Arundhutinagar.
