Dul-Dul Chorten - Jhang Club Chortan

Location

Sikkim has commemorated, with Stupas, both the Buddha and one of his followers of today. Near the Deorali Bazaar, are two exquisite Stupas, the "Dul-dul-Chorten", was built to commemorate the victory of good over evil; the "Jhang Club Chorten" was built to perpetuate the memory of a great spiritualist of today. Thrul-shik rinpoche an ardent devotee of Buddha and one of his best interpreters died in 1962, the Stupa immortalises Rimpoche in the land of his birth.

Rumtek Monastery

Location

Visible from Gangtok, a 24-km road trip southwest of the capital, the large Gompa of Rumtek is the main seat of the Karma Kagyu lineage - founded during the 12th century by the first Gyalwa Karmapa, Dusun Khyenpa. Also called the Dharmachakra Centre, built by the 9th Karmapa Wangchuk Dorje in 16th century in East Sikkim, India.

Nirmal Dham

Location

This place situated about 5km (approx) from Rhenock Bazar, is an abode of “Nirmal Guruji” (a.k.a) “ Kopchey Baba”, known for his miraculious healing power, which has attracted hundreds of devotees from all over India and neghbouring countries.

Mankhim

Location

“Mangkhim”, a Temple of the Rai of Nepali origin is located at a height of 6500 ft at “Maity Village” (Kheselakha) . Hattipailay is another virgin village where the visitors can see elephant footprints on rock.

Aritar Gompa

Location

A monastery of the Kagyuapa order,considered as one of the holiest and oldest in Sikkim.The visitor’s can imbibe the tranquil air with splendour of monastic arts reflected in its traditional architecture, carved & painted murals and treasure of manuscripts and icons.

Anglican Cemetery & Church

Location

A quiet road from the “General’s Point” leads you to the Anglican Cemetery. British nationals who served under the crown in the North Eastern region are buried here and their tombstones make an interesting reading into history.

Lovers of old churchyards will enjoy the Anglican cemetery in Rilbong, with gravestones dating back to the last century, including those soldiers killed in the Lushai campaign in Mizoram.
