The temple has an image of the Bodhisattva Maitreya, over 6 mtr high. The temple has a hall, vestibule and sanctum. The array of murals within also depicts the monastery of Tashi-Chunpo and Lhasa's Potala palace.
The temples has huge paintings of Vairocana, surrounded by eight Bodhisattvas. Here the initiation to monkhood takes place.
Once said to have been layered with gold, this temple was exhaustively renovated in the 16th century by Senge Namgyal, ruler of Ladakh. The walls and ceilings are covered with outstanding murals.

Arya Samaj Mandir spearheads many cultural, religious and regional activities of Thanedar. The temple has adorned with inscriptions from Bhagavad Gita and the Upanishads. This is a nice calm religious place and a soothing attraction to pay a visit in Thanedar.
St Mary’s Church, consecrated in 1843 as per local people, is situated very close to Thanedar at Kotgrah in Shimla District of Himachal Pradesh. This old-fashioned wooden Church with glittering stained glass windows today marks the existence of the Anglican Church in Kotgarh. Built in s very simple neo- classical style of architecture, this wooden structure holds the attraction of visitors. The church also has an adjacent cemetery carrying the historical symbols of a bygone time. Gorton Mission School started in 1843 is located nearby.
Situated 62 km from Una, near the holy abode of Goddess Chintpurni, this religious residence was established by a solitarian Baba Nakodar Dass during the reign of the Mughal Emperor Akbar.

The place has famous Gurudwara where thousand of Sikhs visit every year to receive the blessing of Baba Bharbhag Singh, who was a saint and established this Gurudwara which was earlier known as Dera. It is about 40 Kms. from Una Town and one can reach this place by bus directly or by train upto Una or by air upto Chandigarh.
