Nainar Masjid

Location

This mosque is believed to be built during the same time as the Bhagvathy Temple and is located just a little distance ahead of the latter. The present structure is pretty recent construction, though quiet a few things do remind of its past. These include the stone steps with ancient inscriptions, a water tank carved out of a single piece of rock and few old pillars.

St Thomas Church

Location

Located 8 km from Thodupuzha, St Thomas Church is believed to be the oldest one in Idukki, around 600 years old. However, reconstruction work was done some 50 years ago itself. The devotees at the church believe that the original structure of the temple was constructed by St Thomas though there is no proof whether the saint even visited the place, leave alone constructing a church here.

Sri Krishnaswamy Temple

Location

The temple dedicated to Lord Krishna was built by the king of Keezhmalainad who ruled from Karikodu. A legend attaches itself with the temple according to which a hermit had a vision of Lord Krishna at this spot. He stopped there and made offerings to the god, and today, at the same spot a temple stands. Like many other temples of Kerala, this temple too allows only Hindus to enter its premises. The timings are 6 to 11.30 am and 5 to 8 am.

Annamalai Temple

Location

3 km from the centre of Thodupuzha is the Annamalai Temple which is around 1800 years old. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is fortunately one of those temples that remain in their original form, devoid of any destruction. The temple is a good example of Chola style of architecture. Worth seeing in the temple is the window with nine lattices pointing to nine planets. There is another window with five lattices indicating the paanch bhoothas five elements. Today, the temple is managed by a private trust.

Venkitachalapathy Temple

Location

Venkatachalapathy temple is located nearby the Parthsarathy temple in Guruvayur. The prime deity in this temple is Venkatavhalapathy, as in Thirupathi. The idol is a form of Lord Vishnu. People believe that this is a temple in which happiness in life can be attained by praying to Venkatachalapathy.

The temple attracts many and daily Pujas are offered here. The temple is placed in the backdrop of lush green scenery. The unpolluted environment adds the beauty of the temple premises. Devotee has the chance of placing before the God many offerings in this temple.

Thiruvambadi Krishna Shrine

Location

Thiruvambady Krishna temple is one of the most ancient temples located in the central and north Kerala. The temple is located nearby Thrissur. The prime deity in this temple is Lord Krishna. The temple is associated with the famous Throssur Pooram during April- May every year. The procession from Thiruvambady is the main attraction of Thrissur Pooram festival. The procession accompanies many elephants and the procession is very attractive with customs of Kudamattam, an activity in which umbrellas of different colors is replaced by others in synchronized way.

Rudratirtha Temple Tank

Location

Adi Sankaracharya laid down rules for worship at this temple. The temple opens for the 'Nirmalyam' darshan to the melody of the `Nadaswaram’ the chanting of 'Narayana, Narayana'. The idol is still wearing the garlands of the previous day. The idol is then bathed and dressed to represent Balagopala or Krishna the child. Pooja, rites and processions are conducted through the day.

Parthasarathy Temple

Location

This is a famous temple credited with an idol of Parthasarathy, Lord Krishna in the form of Guiding Arjuana (Partha). It is believed that this idol was installed in this temple by Adi Shankara. This temple also has a shrine for Adi Shankara. The temple sanctum is in the form of chariot with wheels and horses. Many devotees regularly visit to offer prayers and temple ambiance is good for silent prayer and meditation.
