Koodalmanikyam Temple

Location

Koodalmanikyam Temple, located as a prime attractive religious spot in Iringalakkuda near Kodungallur, is an ancient historical temple in Kerala. The temple draws huge crowds all over the year. This is the only temple in India dedicated to Bharata.

The temple architecture is known for its marvelous beauty and craftsmanship. The temple has impressive gateways; calm and eco friendly premises and round shaped Sanctum Sanctorum. The chuttambalam is really big and attractive.

St Francis Church

Location

Built by the Portuguese in the 16th Century, St. Francis Church is the oldest known church in India. On his 3rd visit to the state of Kerala, Vasco da Gama, fell ill and died. He was buried in the church grounds. Even though his remains were later taken back to Portugal, his burial site is still marked at the church.

Santhanagopala-Krishnaswamy Temple

Location

The Santhanagopala- Krishnaswamy Temple is one of the oldest temples found in all of India. According to inscriptions found at the temple site, the original foundation of this temple was laid in 947 AD This location is a tourist draw because of several things. First, it is interesting in its right as it is a temple located in southern India. Second, its mere age makes it even more fascinating than more recently built temples in the area. This true historic edifice offers many an enlightening experience as they choose to explore the interior and exterior of this notable temple

Trichambaram Temple

This is a temple considered holy by the Vaishnava cult. Lord Krishna is the presiding deity of this temple that is located at a distance of 20 from Kannur. Worth seeing in this temple are the carvings and the murals, though the latter has deteriorated a lot for want of proper care. The temple becomes a centre of attraction in March during the 14 day annual festival of Trichambaram utsavam.
