The Lord Shiva Temple is a small temple in Shivgiri. Lord Shiva is believed to be the third trinity of Lords and is worshipped across whole of India. Shiva, the destructor, is considered to be one of the most powerful gods of the Hindus.
The temple is located at a beautiful location. It can be clearly viewed from the top of the peak of Doddabale Siddaragudda. Local citizens claims it to be 400 years old. The deity of Shiva in the temple is supposed to be very powerful.
Madya Ranga is a Ranganatha Temple on Shivanasamudra Island. In all there are three Ranganatha Temples built on the islands formed at every spot the river Cauvery splits. While the temple at Srirangapatna is called Adi Ranga, the other is called Antha Ranga which is at Srirangam while the thid lies on Shivanasamudra Island.
There are three Ranganatha Swamy temples in the area of the Shivanasamudra Waterfalls – one within the town of Shivanasamudram itself, another at Srirangapatna, and the third at Tiruchi.
Srirangapatna is the town which at one time was used as the capital by Hyder Ali and Tipu Sultan, whose body is said to have been discovered here. The Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple in Srirangapatna is dedicated to the Hindu God Lord Vishnu who reclines on the snake Anantha.
22 Kms from Sirsi. Banvasi was the capital of the Kadambas, the first kingdom of ancient Karnataka. This is where the eminent poet Pampa wrote his poems. The Madhukeshwara Temple, famed for its architecture, derives its name from the honey-coloured lingam in the inner sanctum of the temple. An imposing Nandi faces the lingam. Of special interest is the intricately carved stone cot, which was actually used by the kings. The annual cultural festival "Kadambatsava" is held in the month of December.
Sri Swarnavalli Matt which is at the distance of 20kms from sirsi is an old math. It is in the midst of natural surroundings. The Shalmala River flows near the math. It is one of the pilgrimage centres. Their present swamiji is Shri Gangadharendra Saraswati. He is also known as "Green Swami" as he stands for protecting the greenery of the area.
17 Kms from Sirsi. There are hundreds of the stones with Shiva Linga carved on them by the side or river 'Shalmala'. Because these uncountable carvings, the place gets the name "Sahasra Linga" (thousand lingas). Every year on the day of 'Shivaratri' thousands of people visit this place to worship Lord Shiva. When the water level is not high enough you can actually see all those carvings.
Sirsi Marikamba temple is temple famous for its Kavi art. The Sirsi Marikamba temple is decorated with Kavi art on both sides of its walls. Close to the Marikamba temple are the temples dedicated to Maha Ganapati and Shri Gopalakrishna.
Kalamma temple or Kalamma Basadi is the lone Hindu temple found now in Sravanabelagola. This is an ancient temple dedicated to Goddess Kali, a form of Goddess Devi. This temple is located in the close vicinity of Akkanna Basadi. The offerings are done using the rice provided from the Jain Mutt.
